Bio

From jail, to divorce, drugs, alcohol abuse, homeless, to weird cults, multiple combat tours in Vietnam these fellas have experienced it all.

Their music takes the listener on a musical journey through the Blues genre from easy and mellow to heart/gut wrenching, to straight up old fashioned feverished "Gospel Camp Revival" frenzy and all the time singing about and praising Jesus.

With influences by the old masters like Muddy Waters, Big Walter and Little Walter, Albert King, Jimmy Smith to modern day masters James Harman, Rick Estrin, Carey Bell, this group plays true Blues.

Rev. Bob McCarton (a.k.a. The Blues Rev) blues harp, leader, founder, producer, and chief songwriter with contributions from the entire band. He’s convinced that King David was the original Blues Harp player. Rev. Bob is just as comfortable playing those old church hymns on harmonica as he is getting down, gritty, dirty, and bluesy with the Blues of Breakin’ The Bondage Blues Band (B4). He is a proud Vietnam Vet having served two tours of duty with the 19th Combat Engineer Battalion.

James Fria plays Blues lead guitar for B4. James had been on the road opening for bands like Guns-N-Roses.

Ron Danks is the Keyboardist. Ron had played in an off Broadway play Rock opera.

Brother Donnie Van Vooren keeps “the foot.” Don has been bangin’ on the drums over the years with various club bands. He has a wide range of percussion background and brings a laid back attitude to the rhythm section. Don is powerful, in the pocket, and just outright happy to be playing for Jesus.

Minister Chuck Day was asked to fill in one Saturday evening when the group's then lead guitar player couldn't make an engagement. Chuck played as if he had been with the band for years. He to is a Vietnam combat veteran and has more than 30 years background playing in Rock and Blues bands.

Minister Keith DeGroat has been with B4 for more than 14 years. He is the bass player on all their recordings. Keith comes from a musical family and has been involved with gospel music since he was a young child having played percussions in his family's Gospel group called The Gospelites.

Starting with their opening song, Breakin’ The Bondage Blues Band sets the tone and pace for the entire time they are ministering in song. Whether the set is a half hour long or two hours long, the dynamics are powerful and soulful.
Listening to B4 is like Canned Heat meets Billy Graham and has church.
You might say that they are modern day Psalmists with an old fashion Blues twist. King David would be proud of these fellas.
This music will get you foot stompin’, hand clappin’, and somersaultin’ in your seat. And if you’re dead, it will raise you up.

They will leave you breathless!!
