To see David Lauzon play is to experience one of those Ah! moments in life.
Lauzon’s music would be what one would transpire if unlikely combination Daniel Lanois, David Gilmour, Kaki King and Keller Williams, chanced upon each other in some intimate bar.
David Lauzon is an Ottawa local with a solid background in music. His new solo project combines both electric and acoustic instrumental songs in a jazz–rock blend, looping percussion on guitar, swirling, melodic guitar riffs and unique instrumentation creating deep dancable soundscapes.
Elements of signature Dave Lauzon nero creep through, mingled with moments of nostalgic beauty and otherworldiness. Multidimensional, this music integrates height with depth, plays between whimsical and seriousness, moves between longing and being, dances with both joy and sorrow and invokes emotional participation from listeners. David Lauzon is sure to capture your attention and imagination. You’ve never heard anything quite like him.
Formerly the lead guitarist and songwriter for Canadian band, nero, Dave Lauzon has a impressive history. With nero, Lauzon headlined festivals on both sides of the border. The critics agree that Lauzon is a creative and talented musician. With nero, he has been featured in Relix and Guitar Player Magazine, and also been on the cover of Musik. His band and songwriting was nominated for a Jammy award in the New Groove Of The Year category in a sold-out ceremony/awards show at Madison Square Gardens in March, 2004.
With a solid, established fan base Dave Lauzon will be touring this spring and summer. His debut solo album is expected in the Fall of 2007. An original, talented and creative musician, David Lauzon will be one to watch this year.
