Bio

When it comes to comedy, his peers have dubbed Owen Smith "an original and unusual thinker." His truthful, primal, and unapologetic approach to stand-up has launched his career skyward in many different directions.

Owen was born in Nassau, Bahamas and raised in Maryland. He got his first taste of stand-up comedy performing in front of a live audience on an "Open Mic Night" at the Greenbelt Comedy Connection. The crowd loved him. Owen knew he was destined to be a comic. His mother, however, had other plans...

After graduating from the University of Notre Dame with a Finance degree, Owen packed his bags and moved to Chicago, where he spent the next 5 years touring the country and honing his craft.

"Chicago is where I learned how to be a comedian," he says.

Multi-talented Smith moved to Los Angeles in January 2000. He completed his first lead role in a feature film with Eric Roberts (ABC's Less than Perfect) called "Comedy Hell". He also performed in the Off Broadway musical, "Funny Business," and shot national TV commercials for Dominos Pizza, Dairy Queen, and US Cellular.

Noted television appearances include, Premium Blend (Comedy Central), HBO Comedy Minutes (HBO), Star Search (CBS), Latino Laugh Festival: The Show (SiTV), Montreal Just For Laughs Festival, The Orlando Jones Show (F/X Network), National Lampoon's Funny Money (Game Show Network), Comic View (BET), Friday Night (NBC), Gilmore Girls (the WB), Monk (USA Network), and Everybody Hates Chris (CW Network).
