"Spiral Path Review - East Bay Express"

"On this sophomore disc, five guys who've known each other since the '70s careen between prog-rock, world, funk, and jazz like they can't pick a favorite. And against all odds, they totally nail it." - Nate Seltenrich

"Spiral Path Review - San Fran Voice"

“The Spiral Path is a semi-concept album describing a soul’s journey through life. It is a blend of rock, funk, reggae and jazz fusion with a decidedly Bay Area jamband flavor”. - Kathryn Vercillo

"Project Greenfield"

Project Greenfield that's Bay Area music par excellence, i.e. music for the mind = psychedelic rock, East Bay funk, jazz fusion and lyrics that blend with the music. The band consists of musicians that know their trade (see info underneath). Together they create music that features quite a few styles the Bay Area has to offer. All of the songs on their new album "Edge Of Time" were written by Pat Morris and Jim Knowles (except 'Para Ti' and 'Whitecaps'), i.e. Project Greenfield doesn't need to copy they create their own flow of music. The album tries to capture the band's live sound and one gets an idea of the spheres Project Greenfield reaches when playing a club.

Bio

Project Greenfield is comprised of professional music veterans delivering the diverse San Francisco sound of psychedelic rock and East Bay funk, melodic jazz, and rhythmic reggae with lyric social expression. This is the Project Greenfield festival concert experience - open, fresh, family, different, exciting.

Project Greenfield is a group of seasoned musicians with long resumes including both leading various bands and as sidemen with various well-known acts, the guys reconnected at a couple of recording sessions and began jamming, writing, and performing, leading to shows and three well received CDs.

Project Greenfield's first CD release, "EDGE OF TIME" generated considerable excitement with audiences and critics. Project Greenfield combines lyrics that comment on social and personal growth with searing guitar solos, compelling keyboard melodies and textures, and a rhythm section full of syncopated dance grooves and dynamics. "EDGE OF TIME" was recorded using live techniques with few overdubs or digital manipulation and offers you the diversity of composition and quality musicianship that Project Greenfield delivers at its live performances.

Project Greenfield's second CD - "The Spiral Path" is a semi-concept CD which acknowledges the unique life journey we all take. This CD still uses the raw and live recording techniques used previously and re-emphasizes the interplay with rhythms, melodies, and socially relevant lyrics.

"Amakua" shows Project Greenfield's diversity with an album of jazz-oriented offerings for listening and dancing.

Project Greenfield is well on its way to deliver its fourth offering going back to its roots in the San Francisco sound that synthesizes diversity with accessibility.

The Band:

Pat Morris - combines rock, jazz, fusion, funk, classical and reggae in a unique style. Pat studied classical guitar with Josef Raposo, jazz and theory at Berklee College, and with jazz legend Dave Creamer. He toured the East with funk & soul bands Brothers Six and Kith & Kin, opening for acts such as Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes, and recorded backing tracks for R&B singer Margo Thunder. After moving to California, Pat toured with rock and fusion bands Elements, Hot Face, Mystery Train, Automatic Blue, and with roots/reggae band George & the Wonders. Pat did session work with producer Paul Harvey for A & M and Warner Bros and with legendary reggae guitarist Hux Brown.

Jim Knowles - began playing professionally in his teens and has backed R&B artists Jimmy McCracklin, L. C. "Good Rockin" Robinson, and toured with It's a Beautiful Day founder David LaFlamme. He's shared the stage with Big Mama Thornton, Larry Graham, John McLaughlin and Jorma Kaukonen, and has recorded at Wally Heider/Hyde Street and Fantasy studios. Knowing no better, he hooked up with Pat and Tim in the Bay Area jazz fusion band Elements and rock band Hot Face.

Tim Cuny - has been laying down a solid beat for over 30 years as a performer and recording artist. Tim grew up in Chicago and cut his teeth in the tough neighborhood clubs that are famous for defining the sound of Jazz, Blues, and R&B. Tim studied drums and the incorporation of Tai Chi with master drummer George Marsh. Tim has had the opportunity to play with and shared the stage with diverse musicians including Curtis Mayfield, Canned Heat, BB King, Tommy Castro, Tower of Power, and many other Bay Area bands and performers.

Joey Reyes - (bass, vocals) grew up in Marin. He played the Fillmore with Screaming Bloody Marys whose record was produced by East Bay Ray of the Dead Kennedys. He also played with Glamazon and the singer Nkechi, played with Pepe and Pat in Karma Whiplash, and played keyboards with the reggae band George & the Wonders (also with Pat). He worked as an engineer at Tarpon Studios for Narda Michael Walden, and did studio work at Studio D, Cougar Studios, and Hyde St. Studios.
