A road map to NXNE festival

OK, here we go with North By Northeast round two: Friday and Saturday. We start with a relatively new Toronto band called The Curfew, featuring ex-members of Frizbee, Radioblaster and Len. There's just a little bit of CCR in their guitar-focused indie rock, and some echoes of their former bands, as well as some Pavement. It's a pleasing mixture, which makes me think that finding bands like this is what a music festival is all about. They play Holy Joe's Friday at 9 p.m. - Mary Dickie

Bio

Leonids are a four-piece rock band from Toronto, Ontario with a sound that draws equally from The Velvet Underground, Pavement, the Pixies and Wilco. Their savvy song-writing and shit-eating grins have been steadily attracting audiences since 2001. Originally called The Curfew, and made up of ex-members of Frizbee, Radioblaster and Bill's Dangerous Band, the band has since reformed with a new name, a new rhythm section and a more spacious and mature sound.
