Have you ever wondered what flamenco guitar, electric sitar and Afro-Latin drum‘n’bass dance beats would sound like with some lyrics and a splash of psychedelic improvisation? Next Tribe is probably the closest group you’re going to find that fits the bill. Phil Scotti (drums), James Criscitiello (bass) and Rob Mastrianni (guitar, vocals) jump from funk to punk and world to rock to create the trio’s extremely diverse sound. Having already played alongside everyone from Robert Randolph and Spearhead to The New Deal and The Disco Biscuits, they’ve made significant headway into the scene - Relix

Next Tribe is a band on a mission. A mission of crossing musical genres and breaking the boundaries of rock, ethnic, metal, jam-band and pop.
Born and bred in the basments of Brooklyn in 2000, Next Tribe has been on a far out musical journey ever since. Pushing the envelope night in and night out with one of the most original sounds in the NYC scene. From Flamenco to dance to Rock to rhythmic tribal improvisational psychedelia, clubs and crowds are drawn in by this diverse group.
Conceived in the dome of guitarist Rob Mastrianni, this ever evolving cast of rhythm junkies has helped push his gypsy world jam rock stylings to infectious levels. With mainstay bassist James Criscitiello helping to steer this wild beast, Next Tribe has won critical acclaim as well.
In 2004, Next Tribe won Relix Magazine's Jam Off competition. Voted in the top 10 of over 200 nationwide entries for best new band. Jambase.com, The Village Voice and many other respected musical publications have all jumped on to support this unique hybrid with great reviews.
A Next Tribe live performance is a full on experience for all senses.
Mesmerizing and intense, passionate and energetic, bitter and sweet. From well crafted songs with hooks that will stick in your head for days, to freewheeling improvisations that make each performance a unique experience.
The band has performed at top venues in NYC such as The Mercury Lounge, The Knitting Factory and also landed daily gigs at the legendary Wetlands Preserve. Over the past 3 years Next Tribe has had the honor to share the stage with many amazing acts such as The Disco Biscuits, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, The Mermen, Michael Frantis' Spearhead, The New Deal, Lake Trout and many more.
Next Tribe's 2004 release "Skycity" was Produced by John Philippidis from Burlap To Cashmere (A&M Records).
The band plans to release a new full length CD this fall.
