“Hearing Next Tribe is a religious experience every time…” - Uhero.com

"The Village Voice"

“There is no escaping this zone once you stumble upon it. It instantaneously overcomes you. It forces you to move. The rock ‘n’ roll moments will have you raising your fists while the constantly pulsating rhythms will have you shaking body parts you didn’t even know you had. And it feels so good, it’s just gotta be evil.” - Rothman

"Jambase.com"

“The revelation of Next Tribe is the guitarist/sitarist who brings the mentality of a "jam band" leader to a whole new universe of music. The electric sitar is a sight to be seen in itself, but the playing of it is magnificent. He seems to just wave his hand over the strings and ellicit the most hauntingly beautiful music from it. But for the most part he played on the guitar which also featured a different sound than the normal electric guitar we are used to. Gorgeous composed sections, wild rocking out moments, fun gratuitous solos, as well as plenty of wah-wah and assorted pedal work are all a part of his playing.”

“The band featured an amazing guitarist whose style was infused with ethnic styles of both the Middle Eastern and Latin varieties. His guitar work was almost like classical guitar and truly astounded me at times as he managed to play two riffs at once.”

“Next Tribe’s internationally flavored mix is utter refreshment in the world of rehashed music genre mixing. It’s some of the most refreshing, innovative music I’ve heard in the last couple of years.”
“It’s rare that a band can create and inhabit it’s own niche in the spectrum of live music. Next Tribe pulls this off – it isn’t easy but they do it.”
- Aaron Stein

"Thisismodern.com"

“All you need to understand in the word incredible.”
“Next Tribe is trippy, ambient and energetic while remaining innovative and ear catching. Just one listen and you’ll be hooked.”
- Thisismodern.com

"The Village Voice"

“Far from your typical jam band, Next Tribe blends rock with a heavy world music influence rooted in drum ‘n’ bass rhythms to get fans of all genres on their feet.” - Marek

"Wetlands"

“Next Tribe performances are spirited, energetic and will certainly inspire.” - Wetlands Preserve NYC (2001)

"Westchestermusic.com"

“Mesmerizing, hypnotizing…one of the most original bands I’ve heard. There is no simple way to describe this band. But once you’re hooked, you’re hooked.” - Westchestermusic.com

"Long Island Entertainment News"

“This is the band you will no doubt be seeing more of in the future.” - Long Island Entertainment News

"Relix Magazine"

Have you ever wondered what flamenco guitar, electric sitar and Afro-Latin drum‘n’bass dance beats would sound like with some lyrics and a splash of psychedelic improvisation? Next Tribe is probably the closest group you’re going to find that fits the bill. Phil Scotti (drums), James Criscitiello (bass) and Rob Mastrianni (guitar, vocals) jump from funk to punk and world to rock to create the trio’s extremely diverse sound. Having already played alongside everyone from Robert Randolph and Spearhead to The New Deal and The Disco Biscuits, they’ve made significant headway into the scene - Relix

Bio

Next Tribe is a band on a mission. A mission of crossing musical genres and breaking the boundaries of rock, ethnic, metal, jam-band and pop.

Born and bred in the basments of Brooklyn in 2000, Next Tribe has been on a far out musical journey ever since. Pushing the envelope night in and night out with one of the most original sounds in the NYC scene. From Flamenco to dance to Rock to rhythmic tribal improvisational psychedelia, clubs and crowds are drawn in by this diverse group.

Conceived in the dome of guitarist Rob Mastrianni, this ever evolving cast of rhythm junkies has helped push his gypsy world jam rock stylings to infectious levels. With mainstay bassist James Criscitiello helping to steer this wild beast, Next Tribe has won critical acclaim as well.

In 2004, Next Tribe won Relix Magazine's Jam Off competition. Voted in the top 10 of over 200 nationwide entries for best new band. Jambase.com, The Village Voice and many other respected musical publications have all jumped on to support this unique hybrid with great reviews.

A Next Tribe live performance is a full on experience for all senses.
Mesmerizing and intense, passionate and energetic, bitter and sweet. From well crafted songs with hooks that will stick in your head for days, to freewheeling improvisations that make each performance a unique experience.

The band has performed at top venues in NYC such as The Mercury Lounge, The Knitting Factory and also landed daily gigs at the legendary Wetlands Preserve. Over the past 3 years Next Tribe has had the honor to share the stage with many amazing acts such as The Disco Biscuits, Robert Randolph and the Family Band, The Mermen, Michael Frantis' Spearhead, The New Deal, Lake Trout and many more.

Next Tribe's 2004 release "Skycity" was Produced by John Philippidis from Burlap To Cashmere (A&M Records).
