Shy Tree -- Vegas-based Rock/Pop Band --
Plays Salado Silver Spur Theater, Sun., Aug. 17

Alternative Radio Rock Band Make First Texas Appearances a "Homecoming"

SALADO, TEXAS (July 30, 2008) – The Las Vegas-based Rock/Pop band Shy Tree, making its first Texas appearances, will play at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 17, at the Silver Spur Theater in Salado -- next to Central Texas' IH-35 corridor. The emerging alternative radio rock band will be showcasing often uplifting secular songs, with two of the four members -- Alison and Josh Brown -- enjoying a CenTex "homecoming" to Belton & Salado..

"We love music -- playing it, writing it, singing it," says Alison lead vocalist and rhythm guitar player. "It's our way of making sense of the things that happen in life. We are passionate about bringing audiences music and lyrics that contain some hope in them, while still remaining real. Our songs are our own way of making sense out of the happenings of life, and life is not easy." (http://www.shytree.com)

Alison, 29, who fronts the band, is married to Josh, who is lead guitar and handles back-up vocals. Alison is a graduate of The University of Mary Hardin-Baylor and a former member of One Voice. Josh 29, is a graduate of the Las Vegas Culinary Institute and a 1998 Salado High School graduate. They have been performing and recording together for more than 15 years. They are "coming home" on this tour as in the lyrics of their song "Home."

"We think this young band, playing and arranging music for the past three years, will have great appeal to families, youth and church groups,” said Grainger Esch, Co-founder and Executive Director of the Spur, which was developed five years ago in the historic Sanford & Guest Granary and Feed Store. "We are certainly pleased to be a part of their Southwest mini-tour through Arizona, New Mexico and Texas.

"Fueled by real-life experiences, Shy Tree's lyrics are refreshingly authentic, while still remaining positive," Esch observed. "The Nova Glow, a popular pop rock band from Ennis, TX (www.myspace.com/thenovaglow), will lead off the evening from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Shy Tree will begin play at 8:30 p.m.

For this special Spur event, tickets are $10 for all adults and $8 for children (12 and under), with group discounts available. He has played with Josh and Alison for several years -- rock, jazz alternative and pop music styles. As the youngest member, Cody was the fourth and final addition to the band. Although only 19, he has been playing in the Las Vegas music scene for seven years, and at age 17 received an endorsement with Warwick basses. "I'm dreaming big and aiming high for Shy Tree and our futures," he said.

"As Shy Tree, we've been able to pump out radio-ready hits one right after another," Josh emphasized. "Shy Tree's professional musicianship, paired with our members' deep love for writing and playing great music is driving our band's focus and success. Our goals are simple: To make a positive dent in today's music industry by pushing the envelope musically and to connect to as many people as possible through excellent music and real lyrics."

Bio

Shy Tree is a female-fronted alternative rock band making waves in today's relevant music scene. The band originally formed in Las Vegas, NV where they wrote, recorded, and toured their first album, Sunshine and Sidewalks (2008). It's positive radio-friendly sound propelled the band to take their music across the U.S.

Now, based out of Texas, Shy Tree continues to push their creative boundaries. They released their second album, Escape The Cage in May of 2010. It's music is both lyrically honest and musically unique, creating a phenomenal and exciting release for the band. "I write lyrics as a means of coping and learning as I experience life. Some of them make me laugh. Some make me cry. And some make good songs" says Lead Singer and Guitar player, Alison Brown.

With Shy Tree's quickly growing song catalog, the band's live shows demonstrate their passion to connect with their audience. Song's such as "Fight for Better", "Escape the Cage", "Had Your Chance", and "Hold on for Tonight" draw the crowd closer to the live experience, although all of Shy Tree's set is catchy and energetic. "We love recording new albums and anticipate several more in the future, but we live for playing our music out on the road. Not for out own selfish gain, but for the energy that happens when the band and the crowd meet and spend some time together during a show" says Brown. "It doesn't get any better than that for us".

Both of Shy Tree's albums can be found on iTunes and Amazon, "and at all of our shows" adds the band. "We're in this thing for life, for love, for everyone, everywhere".
