THE MAKING OF AN ARTIST.....
Since age 3, Ricky sang for his mother, while closing his eyes and expressing intense passion. When Ricky was about 5 years old, his sister Michele having noticed his love of music, began teaching him the lyrics to songs he enjoyed. By the time reached age 7, he was writing poetry, mostly dedicated to the first love of his life, his mother. He began expanding his musical talents around age 11 and explored the realms of hip-hop, mostly rhyming at school, wheither to mock a classmate or a teacher. " It got so good, that my classmates paid me to rap about others" proudly boasts Ricky. At age 12, he wrote his first full Rap song entitled " Mama"; it is at this point as well, that Ricky began taking music lessons, the flute being the first instrument he learned to play.

THE DEEP ASPIRATIONS OF AN ARTIST.........
Ricky Derose tends to be sensitive towards social events that surrounds his walk on this Earth, rendering him therefore, a very conscientious and concerned writer especially about the wrongs of today's society. In his dedication to justice, peace, love and unity, Ricky earned the respect and credibility of his opponents while eveolving as a young man in the rough streets of Port-au-Prince. " The King" was a label given in to him in his neighborhood and from there came his artist name of the 90's," King 'D' Ricks". Ricky is fluent in 4 languages, French, Creole, Spanish and English; this lyrical versatility allowws him to write music capable of easily captivating the world music scene and crossing over unto other music markets.

THE ROAD TO A PROFESSIONAL CAREER......
As he began performing on stage at the age 13, Ricky Derose was influenced by many musical genres, some of which are Zouk, Kompa, Salsa, Rumba, Hip-Hop, R&B, Reggae, Dancehall and Troubadour. Exposure to these genres over the ensuing years, have provided a musical road map and backbone to Ricky, which in time, resulted in the development of a distinct and particular lyrical, melodical style that is Ricky's own signature sound. On the road to stardom, Ricky has crossed paths with many prominent artist and entertainers in the likes of Clovis Jr. Jean from Hangout, Richard Cave from Carimi, Hansito Mercier Jr. from Top Digital, Frantzy Jamaican, Wency Jamaica and the late Mater Dji from Haiti Rap & Ragga, Shinning Rap Stars, Blackly Gifted, Sista Shell, Cooly D, just to name a few. At age 17, Ricky became the Vice-President of a group that pioneered the Haitian Rap movement in Haiti, the Rassemblement Des Fans Du Rap Creole ( R.F.R.C.); this endeavor gave him the opportunity to experience some of the administrative and business aspects of the entertainment world by allowing him to organize shows and rallies, in encouraging students committees of schools to support the upcoming young rap artists. All of this led his appointment by the C.E.P. ( Conseil Electoral Provisoir) in 1995, to write and perform a song to help encourage the youth of Haiti to go to the voting poles.

THE BLOSSOMING ENTERTAINER.............
At the moment, Ricky Derose is in the process of finishing his first solo album and looking forward to releasing it to the general public very soon. The CD is musically produced and arranged by prominent music producer Branley Midouin, one of Ricky's good friend, musical ally and believer, and The Ambassador of Urban Soul Steve Wallace, one of New York's top notch producer. Many Haitian "Greats" are featured on that record, such as the incomparable beat master Shedley Abraham on drums, master virtuoso bassist Robert "Bobby" Raymond, groove master guitarist Ronald Smith, sultry songstress Cindy Midouin, prominent Keyboardist Jeff Policard (from Farenheit), master drummer and percussionist Edy" Borgela" Philip, soulful singer Stephane Alexandre ( formerly of Rapadoo and Miel) and upcoming Haitian world Music artist Mistik. Ricky also just completed his extended Play (EP) CD dedicated to the cause of AIDS, produced by himself and Steve Wallace, an unshakable musical ally of Ricky as well. The EP is an epic recording and features Ricky Derose, in his plight to educate sociaty about HIV/AIDS, in several languages; it is a work of art not to be overlooked as it transcends Ricky Derose, the writer, the artist, the spiritually and socially concerned citizen of the world..... the man!
