Everything Darker (2013)

Bio

Tim Fisher spent years working toward a music career; even switching career paths to pursue it. Unfortunately, a lifetime of labour and bill payments sidelined his efforts. Now at 40 – an age when most recording artists have closed up shop to rest on their laurels – the multi-instrumentalist is set to release his debut album Everything Darker under the band name Suncapades.

Fisher describes the anthemic lead-off single 'The Last Top Five' as “an introspective song about expectations we cling to in life." It's also about a girl named Anna -- the object of the songwriter's distraction. "Anna I want to see you," Fisher laments, easing himself away from the infectious melody chant of the songs title.

The haunting accompanying video sees beautiful young movement artist Rachel Ramalama innocently-yet-fearlessly showcasing her mesmerizing hula hoop talents through playgrounds, moonlit parks, back alleys, and abandoned ice rinks. She even holds up rush hour traffic to hoop in the middle of a major downtown intersection. Rachel is a member of Toronto-based hula hoop company Sugar Hoops (www.SugarHoops.com).

The upcoming debut album 'Everything Darker' features a sound one might not expect from a stocky, working class furniture mover. Written, recorded and produced by Fisher, it’s a layered and richly melodic collection of alternative pop songs about life, death, redemption, rebellion and a yearning for the past.

Everything Darker was written and recorded during a tumultuous period over the past year, where Fisher faced various personal challenges, including the illness and eventual passing of his sister. “The difficulty of the past few months was pretty transformative, “Fisher says. “I either had to take a big risk and finally pursue this calling of mine, or abandon the idea once and for all and live with that decision.”
