Ellos tuvieron la oportunidad de demostrarle al público del Vive Latino, que más allá de ser aquella banda con varios sencillos en la programación de Reactor y mucho ruido en los diferentes medios de contenido musical, estos chicos del Distrito Federal son una verdadera fiesta en el escenario.
Con sencillo tras sencillo como “The Light Of Day”, “So They Wait” y su nueva “Alrededor de los muertos” y “Kibera”, pusieron a vibrar a un escenario Rojo que poco a poco se llenaba más y más.
Fue notable el esfuerzo que pusieron en su show, y como es de costumbre, se inclinaron por el uso de llamativos colores, originales máscaras, abstractos visuales, mucha energía y la mejor de las vibras en el escenario.
Su primer Vive Latino los trató bien, el nerviosismo se veía en sus caras, pero al final, nos enseñaron que The Plastics Revolution, después de varias presentaciones en foros como El Imperial y el Pasagüero, ya están al nivel de cumplirle a un Vive Latino. - Me Hace Ruido
Con tantas bandas haciendo música en estos días, la tarea de reducir a diez las bandas que a futuro se antojan promisorias, resulta exhaustiva. Pero si algo podemos concluir después de hacer esta lista, es que la escena del rock se encuentra desperdigada por varias ciudades del país, lo cual nos parece saludable y necesario. A continuación, diez bandas que por su propuesta, originalidad y contundencia en directo, apostamos serán punta de lanza dentro de los siguientes años.

Propuestas como la de la familia Von Plastic demuestran que el electropop puede conjuntar inteligencia, energía, creatividad, sentido del humor y amor por el arte. Lo mismo hacen y distribuyen su propia memorabilia en las calles, que graban sesiones para La Blogotheque o se presentan ante miles de invitados en escenarios como el del Vive Latino. A few weeks ago our Twitter Timeline was full of little hints from many Mexican bands celebrating the news of their selection for La Blogotheque’s “Black XS Live Sound Take Away Shows.” Among the bands selected are Chikita Violenta, Antoine Reverb, Carla Morrison, 60 Tigres, Natalia Lafourcade, Los Negretes, Mexican Institute of Sound, Lazaro Valiente among others. Some friends of ours tell us Café Tacvba did one too, but it’s kind of a secret. The Paris-based video collective by Vincent Moon has unveiled the first video to be shot in Mexico, featuring Mexico City-based sextet The Plastics Revolution, who we must confess, we had no idea of their existence (La Blogotheque’s magic). This band is definitely interesting, listening to the incredibly catchy “Light of Day” with that Mariachi in Xochimilco is a great way to win our hearts. - Club Fonograma

Ayer la noche se vistió de gala y dio la bienvenida a dos de las agrupaciones más elegantes de la escena capitalina: 3 Dudes and a Mullet y The Plastics Revolution.
Con las lluvias tomándose una pausa y la noche fresca, El Imperial se llenó con fans, curiosos, fiesteros, y demás que se dieron cita para escuchar lo que la Esencia Marvin número 28 tenía reservado para este 7 de septiembre.
La elegancia del Mullet
Para iniciar la noche 3 dudes and a Mullet deleitó al esencial público con su combinación de rock, folk y un poco de country. “Love train” definitivamente fue la canción del set y es que eran pocos los asistentes que no corearon este tema; y la impresión que Fish, Miots, Poni y Bueno dejaron en todos asistentes fue, sin duda, buena y duradera.
No deja de sorprender lo mucho que esta banda ha evolucionado, desde esos años de Cuervo and Roll, su interpretación en vivo es precisa y su talento como músicos evidente.

Para continuar la noche The Plastics Revolution tomó el escenario y sacudió al Imperial con un sonido vibrante y poderoso, si algo puede decirse con certeza de esta banda de singles, es que saben como animar a la audiencia, y su presencia escénica es un verdadero ejemplo para muchas bandas jóvenes mexicanas que creen que mantener una expresión muerta en el escenario, da aire de seriedad. Uno de los mejores momentos de la noche, tomó lugar cuando Madame Recamier acompañó a los Plastics, y es que además de tocar con ellos, Recamier se encontraba festejando su cumpleaños, y como todos sabemos no hay mejor lugar para festejar, bautizos, bodas o cumpleaños que Esencia Marvin. - Marvin Magazine
Fue prácticamente hace un año cuando esta agrupación capitalina lanzó un álbum homónimo en donde verdaderamente nos demostraron que en la escena nacional estaban pasando cosas más allá de lo que vemos y oímos habitualmente.
The Plastics Revolution invadieron el territorio sonoro mexicano con una propuesta que mezclaba un rock agridulce con secuencias electrónicas y algunas pinceladas de color hechas por acordeones, kazoos, y otros instrumentos. Sin dejar atrás el show en vivo de la banda, lleno de luces de colores, botargas y otros elementos que conformaban un auténtico guateque sobre el escenario.
A principios de este 2010, esta banda tuvo un silencio que duró algunos meses. Algunos ya los daban por desaparecidos, aunque se presentaron en ocasiones por algunos clubes de la Ciudad de México y a mediados del año hasta escuchamos un nuevo track de su autoría. Hoy podemos asegurar que The Plastics Revolution están más vivos que nunca, y lo demostrarán este sábado 25 de septiembre en Pasagüero.
Acompañan en el cartel otras dos interesantes propuestas de corte nacional: Suave As Hell y RuidoRosa.

Xochimilco is a big neighborhood from South Mexico City which is about an hour from the city center. A neighborhood – under Unesco’s World Heritage label – made of canals, remains of lakes and swamps that used to be the very historical part of the city before it became the huge Megalopolis we all know now. A strange Venice, dedicated to flowers, in which you move by taking trajineras, big, colored, richly decorated boats driven by the local cousins of venice gondoliers.
We were supposed to meet the Plastic Revolution people early morning so we had time to enjoy the touristic place. They arrived with a few friends and much enthusiasm, bossted with the energy you can feel on their record, wanting to give a great show. Each of them is still a student, and two of them, living abroad, had rescheduled their return to Mexico so they could arrive earlier and take their time to rehearse acoustic versions of their songs for us. With their joyful bikingual rock, we were expecting lively, pepsy tunes, a sweet FOLIE ? We were fulfilled.
On those boats, we had seen many tourists, families, hanging out or just sharing big lunch. Many vendors came to us to try and sell us souvenirs and weird drinks. The Plastic Revolutions were playing, and couldn’t care less about what was around, as if they just melted into this environment. We just loved those unique, precious moments. Then we met a Mariachi band on another boat playing music to earn a few pesos by playing music for the tourists. It’s been easy : they quickly agreed to leave their traditional songs and to take possession of ‘Light of day’. within less than two minutes, they got the rythm, the chords, and thus they started to play this song they never heard before.
There was only one take, and this was just unique moment to feel the magical of unexpected meeting, the pleasure the musicians had when they played altogether, the sparkling eyes as people smiling on the bank. Hola Chicuelos. Hablemos de Rockcito nacional mexicano, ¿les parece? Generalmente decepcionante, ¿no creen? Inundando de posers, estrellitas y followers.
Digo, porque salvo los actos ya consagrados (Cafeta, Plastilina, etc.), es rara la ocación en que una banda nacional me seduzca con un sonido novedoso. Abundan en nuestra dichosa escena las bandas que suenan bonito, pero hueco. Musical o líricamente. O símplemente, hay muchos buenos músicos sin mucho genio musical. Por éso entre los muy conocedores del rock en nuestros país (y los consabidos y clásicos haters) suelen ver con ojos de desprecio a las banditas connacionales.
Pero cuando matas prejuicios y decides zambullirte en el roll nacional puedes llegar a emocionarte. Porque es sentirte como si estuvieses en una mina inhóspita de Zimbabwe... donde tienes que hundirte profundo en el barro, para sacar los diamantes que bajo de él se esconden.
The Plastics Revolution es la más reciente piedrecilla en bruto que he tenido la fortuna de encontrar. Son del DF y tienen algo que me emociona. Quizá es porque son de ésas bandas en que puedes sentir y contar todas las influencias que han forjado su sonido. Escuchas un riff que te trae inesperadamente una reminiscencia lejana, o una textura que habías escuchado en ése disco que tanto te gustaba. Escucharás sonidos que te sonarán muy familiares... pero diferentes.
Lo interesante de éstos lads es la manera en que han digerido ésas influencias que los caracterizan. Hacen suyos ésos sonidos para después regurgitarlos como una lluvia de colores diferentes y con personalidad propia. La primera canción intitulada What a Surprise se convertirá casi automáticamente en una sorpresa para tu cabeza. Su sonido deambula entre el disco y el alternativo con unas deliciosas pausas a là down-tempo ambiental y un chorus más pegajoso que el chicle que ahora llevas en el zapato sin saberlo.
Pensarás en Molotov cuando empiece So They Wait y te comenzarás a llenar poco a poco de un New Wave muy seductor que te llevará directamente a los 80's *por si de casualidad, no los llegaste a vivir*. Montreal suena como a una bonita canción viejita que escuchaste alguna vez en una caricatura divertida. Money Talks es energética y up-lifting pieza de Indie Pop, con la teatralidad de Switches y con un chorus colosal digno de una banda de Stadium-Rock setentera. En Get Ready to Go nos muestran un particular genio por la melodía. Haciendo guiños al techno y al New Wave harán que escapes con su rock electrónico.
Post-punky, juguetón, inocente (¿o indescente?), desgarbado, multifacético... ésos podrían ser buenos adjetivos para su sonido. Su demo es un excelente arranque. Claro que por supuesto les falta aún moldear más su estilo y comenzar a pulirse para evitar tantos guiños a predecesores; pero digo para tener un sonido así de sólido en un Demo es necesario un tanto de genialidad musical. Para mí, serán uno de los New Big Thing aquí en México próximamente.
Ojalá y se empiecen a mover por toda la república y nos den pronto su álbum o EP debut, para poder deleitarnos los tímpanos con su ruido. Ésta reunión de canciones me las pasó un chico que es fan de la banda. Son sus demos, no tienen nadao oficial aún. Muy buena banda. ¡Checad, por favor señores! Discography
So far, The Plastics Revolution has recorded a 6-song EP and a 9-song LP.
Their first EP was recorded at their home studio in 2008. Although recorded only as a demo for their upcoming full-length LP, the quality of the production was good enough for the songs "So They Wait" (the band's first single) and "Ahora somos parte" (the band's first Spanish single) to make their way into Mexico City's most important rock radio station (Reactor 105.7fm), as well as into other radio stations across the country.
On August 2009, the band realesed their first full-lenght LP independently, featuring 9 songs (2 in Spanish and 7 in English). This homonymous record, sold mainly through indie record stores and indie lifestyle stores in Mexico, sold out in just 3 weeks and keeps generating good sales via Web retailers such as iTunes, Napster, Emusic, Rhapsody, etc.
At the same time of the release, the band released the single "Saturno", wich made its way into the main rock stations in Mexico. Furthermore, their single "Cars From Mars" helped them get noticed internationally, drawing the attention of MTVmusic.com as part of their "Needle in the Haystack" feature.
In May 2010, the band released "Kibera", the first single of their upcoming album, which got the band heavy airplay in Mexico's top rock radio stations, as well as thousands of digital downloads via a free download promotion with Mexico City's main radio station Reactor 105.7fm. The song was included in Reactor's listing of the 105 best songs of 2010.
In summer 2010, The Plastics Revolution gave a huge leap forward internationally by recording an acoustic session with recognized French indie collective La Blogotheque. They were the first Mexican band to have a video released by La Blogotheque, and the highly positive response to their video brought them a never-seen-before international attention.
In 2011, The Plastics Revolution continued to expand their growing international fanbase by playing in SXSW festival. Also, they played in Latin America's most important rock festival Vive Latino, which helped them develop a strong nationwide following in order to successfully tour around Mexico during the summer.
In September 2011, the band released "Cleptosaurios," the third single of their upcoming album, which immediately made its way into Mexico's top radio stations. At the same time, a live performance video of the song was released through Mexican blog At The Venue. At the moment, the song continues to enjoy extensive radio airplay throughout the country.
The Plastics Revolution is currently on the post-production phase of their second LP, which is due to be released early 2012.

The Plastics Revolution is a group of 23-year-old friends who, after separately playing in different projects for years, finally decided to join into a single band in Fall 2007. The most unique quality of the band, which clearly sets them apart from others, is the evident strong bond that unites the six members, all of them being already best friends before the project started. The chemistry among them is not only patent during their energetic and highly interactive live performances, but also in their compositions, which present a balanced, original, and well-integrated mixture of the diverse ideas and backgrounds of all members. Of all their influences, those which can be perhaps more easily noticed in their music are bands such as The Arcade Fire, The Flaming Lips, Broken Social Scene, Belle & Sebastian and Phoenix, among others.
