PRESS RELEASE

UK ACT SELECTED FOR GROUND-BREAKING US COLLEGE SHOWCASE OPPORTUNITY
Direct access to the largest live music marketplace in the world

11 November 2009:
Following the successful launch in September, the International Network for Entertainments & Campus Activities (INECA) it delighted to announce that The Arkanes have been selected for the main stage showcase opportunity reserved for a UK act at the 50th anniversary NACA National Convention 2010.

The slot was hotly contested with over fifty enquiries from which a shortlist of four acts were selected- The Arkanes coming through as the ones most likely to succeed in the highly competitive US College scene.

Playing high energy rock with clear influences by the likes of The Who, Oasis and The Vines, the band hail from Merseyside and were formed by lead vocalist/guitarist Chris Pate, with guitarist Adam Sheeran and bassist/vocalist Lee Dummett in late 2007, completing the line-up more recently with the addition of Andy Long on the drums.

Although all still in their twenties, the band aren’t hanging around and 2009 has been a seminal year for them: By the end they will have played more than 80 concerts in the UK, Switzerland and Germany including a few festivals and touring across Europe.

Also during 2009 they have recorded 11 songs in Germany with André Horstmann (Neuwerk13 Studio), but perhaps their crowning glory will be the Finals of the Peoples Music Awards. This online competition is decided by public votes, and having beaten several hundreds of bands to make it through to the last 5 of the competition, the band are now down to the last two and are close to being crowned as The Peoples Favourite Band of 2009- the results are announced soon so watch this space.

2010 is set to get better however as the band head off for their NACA National Convention showcase in front of over 2500 bookers and music programmers from campus’ across the US, each with significant budgets and committed to booking the best acts that perform at the event.

The Arkanes are the only UK act appearing at the event, some hopefully they can secure a major slice of the $32million being spent on artists and performers over the 5 days of the convention.

They have also now secured US agency representation from college booking specialists Auburn Moon Agency and the stars certainly seem to be aligning in their favour.

Their moment in the USA spotlight comes on 15 February 2010 and we wish them well.
