"Tour de Force 1 compilation Album"

Matchbox Recordings drafted in a well known journalist called Dave Chislett to let them know what he thought of all the featured bands.

David Says:

Shut Up is a stripped-down guitar track that relies effectively on its sparseness for its punch. A sung-shouted vocal line drops perfectly around the simple chord progression to create a powerful simple song.

Eltons Adams, Canada's most exciting and fresh new rock artist who also happens to have served his time in the army in Afghanistan. Watch out James Blunt you are about to be out ranked.

- Dave Chislett

"Matchbox Recordings"

Soldier Elton Adams delivers an incredibly classic and epic rock album . His voice is loud, energetic, anthemic, melodic and bold. Elton's music rocks your soul and sticks in your head and the ballads are beautiful and real. With a name like that and massive heartfelt but fun songs how can he go wrong ? " -Matchbox Radio 24.

Elton Adams is an up and coming artist with a bright future. His honest approach to song writing and performing is evident in everything that he does in his career. I have had the opportunity to work as his music producer and his music mentor. Elton knows how to tell a great story and delivers it with passion and conviction. Through producing Elton’s debut album we have become friends with a mutual respect for one another’s talents.

Elton has been featured on our Denmark Productions Halifax Plugged – In 8 compilation CD that was just released summer 2009. He has also been getting radio play on Q104 and CKBW because of his solo project and Halifax Plugged – In 8.

I believe Elton would be a great nominee for this years ECMA Rising Star Recording of the Year award. I hope you find the time to listen to Elton’s CD, I feel confident that you will agree he is a rising star.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, if you would like to talk to me directly. Please don’t hesitate to contact me

To Whom It May Concern

Re: Elton Adams

In June 2009, Elton Adams came to Vancouver Island to be a major part of Boomer’s Legacy fundraising events.

On the 11th he performed at a BBQ, which kicked off the departure of our cyclists to Victoria, then on the bus ride down he performed during the trip, that evening, once again, Elton pulled out his guitar and sang to the delight of our riders. The following morning, he sang, O'Canada when we had assembled preparing to leave for the two-day bike ride from Victoria to Courtenay. The Chief of Defence Staff, General Walter Natynczyk presented Elton with the CDS coin of excellence that morning. During that day’s ride Elton would be at our rest stops, singing tunes, encouraging and cheering the riders on.

The following evening we held a Gala Event and Elton was our headline entertainer. He rocked. During that event, I presented him with a “Boomer Coin”, one that I give only to those who truly “get it”, those who have that in-depth understanding of what our troops are accomplishing in Afghanistan and what it takes to make a real difference in this world. He knows, he was there and served in Afghanistan in 2008.

In regards to his time with us, Elton did not receive any financial remuneration; he donated his time and talent freely to further our cause of Helping Our Soldier’s Help Others. After our son, Cpl Andrew Eykelenboom was killed in Afghanistan we have met many fantastic young men and women who wear the Canadian uniform and are willing to put their lives at risk to help others, Elton stands tall among them. He represented our military in the most professional of manner and his music and talent benefitted us all.

We are thankful to Elton and support and appreciate his gifted musical ability and his willingness to give of himself.

Sincerely,

Maureen Eykelenboom

Hi My name is Jan Cooper and I’m One of Canada's top vocal coaches. I have Worked both with Grammy and Juno award winners. Plus I have worked with such producers as Bob Rock, Bruce Fairburn and Troy Sampson. Presently I act as a freelance A and R person for unsigned bands and artist on the international scene. History: I have been attending and representing unsigned artist and bands for the last 19 years at the World Record Conference in Cannes France and the last 5 years at Popkomm in Germany.
Elton Adams Is being represented by myself at Midem the World Record Trade show in Cannes this Year. I discovered his music on Sonicbids and felt it was good enough to have representation at the Midem 2010 Trade Show. Everything about him makes him unique. And thats what I look for in an artist. He can not be compared to anyone I know and his music stands out. I feel he should be a strong contender in the Rising Star Recording of the Year.

My Name is Dave Murphy and I'm the founder of thankasoldier.net (2.5 Million members)
I was talking with Kay Kennedy (Mother of fallen soldier Pte Kevin Kenndy)one night online and she had said to me “Dave have you heard the song Whata soldier left behind” by Elton Adams at the time I hadn’t but thought Iwould go check it out. I did right away and the words hit me very hard as I have met many familymembers of fallen soldiers and see how this song would affect them ifthey heard it. I contacted Elton on Facebook and asked him if I could feature the videoon my Thankasoldier.net web page and he gave me permisson to do so. It is now the video people see when they first visit the site. I have since became good friends with Elton and want to help him get his music outthere. This song has reached so many people in different ways and I told ELton I would help him with the submission to the ECMA's for this amazing song. I posted a link online on http://thankasoldier.wordpress.com and titled Help A Soldier recieve the ECMA Rising Star recording award. Below are just a few of the many comments I received in response to Eltons music.

David Says: (What a Soldier Left Behind)

The scope and scale of Adams’ music is epic and dreamlike. This fairly long song meanders through a dreamscape of emotion and emotive music to transcend your state of mind. Powerful feelings and emotive expression are the key tools of Adams’ trade and here he showcases both to good effect.

Bio

Hi, my name is Elton Adams, I was born and raised in Roddickton, Newfoundland, Canada. Growing up, I was surrounded by a family of very talented singers and musicians. Everyone from my oldest grandparent to my youngest cousin can play an instrument and sing. The church and local hockey rink were two of my major influences in Roddickton. Despite the fact that I’m not a stranger to the hockey stick and have played on various teams, music was most certainly my first love.

Where the Music Started
I’m not quite sure when I began to sing or perform but it was well before I began school. My mother would have me sing for the church all the time, whether I wanted to or not…and I enjoyed it most of the time even at a very young age. My interest in the guitar began at the age of eleven; I would grab my dad’s ‘78 Ovation Custom Legend and strum on it for hours. I became so addicted that it was hard to focus on anything but music. I always felt like I had conquered the world when I learned a new cover tune, I had to play it for my friends immediately.

The Canadian Forces
At the age of seventeen I enrolled in the Canadian Forces. During my first six years I was employed with the First Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Shilo Manitoba. While serving with this Regiment I worked in both B and C batteries and ventured to Bosnia on Roto 7. It was also at this time I started to write my own music. While with the Artillery I played and sang for the troops all of the time. In Bosnia my band, “Guns and Hose’s”(this was our band name because the Artillery had the big-guns and we practiced in a Fire hall—hose’s) opened up for the CANCON show. Domestically, I had a band called, Dirty Laundry and we performed for almost all of the Regiments functions, private parties, and local bar’s.

I have served for my country for over eight years and am a Military Police-Officer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. With only two years in the Military police trade I received notification that I was to embark on a 7 month tour to Afghanistan. Further, I would need to complete 8-months of work-up training in Edmonton before the tour began. While in Edmonton, I really began to focus on my song writing. I would perform for my fellow soldiers often and this paid off immensely.

What A Soldier Left Behind
One of the songs I wrote, “What a soldier left behind” was heard by my supervisors and the response was extremely positive. It lead to performing at our farewell parade on January 17th 2008. There was over 2000 personnel present for the parade, both soldiers and their families. The song became and is still growing into a big hit amongst the Canadian Forces community. I was presented with my Colonel’s and General’s commendation for the song. The beautiful reaction I received motivated me to write more of my own music. So, when I returned to Halifax for my 3 week embarkation leave, I recorded 4 songs at Denmark Production’s Studio, owned by Juno and ECMA (East coast Music Awards) judge and music producer of the year Dennis G. Field.

Commendations
On 20 Mar 08, I performed, “What a soldier left behind”, in Afghanistan with Canada’s beloved rock band, Blue Rodeo, at our “support the troops” concert, again the response was incredible. I received General Hiller’s, (our retired Chief of Defence Staff) commendation and I received many thank-you’s from my fellow soldiers, civilian employees and retired NHL Players (Doug Gilmour sent me a signed jersey) who were present at the show. It was unforgettable. Now that I’m back from Afghanistan I have recorded my first album at Demark Productions which was release by distribution company Matchbox Recordings, on 23 Mar 09. My whole album was written while I served in Afghanistan. I hope everyone enjoys my tunes.

I wrote my whole album while I served my country in Afghanistan.
