To whom it may concern,
I am pleased to be invited to give an endorsement for Pastor Damon Horton. I have served in an advisory capacity with him as he started Truth Bible Fellowship. I serve as chairman of the Board of Trustees of Calvary Bible College and Calvary Theological Seminary, where he was a student, and also served with us as Development Director. I have served on two ordination councils with him, have attended his services a number of times and seen him perform his music. And he is my friend.
Damon is a sincere follower of Jesus Christ, and a man of integrity. He is honest with himself and his leadership, going to great lengths to maintain accountability. If he has made a mistake, Damon is not afraid to admit it and repent if he needs to. He is always open to constructive feedback. He is an preacher whose enthusiasm is contagious. His sermons are driven by the Bible text, he is an expository preacher who covers what the passage says thoroughly. He honestly cares about his people and comes alongside them as a fellow struggler trying to walk worthy of the high calling in Christ Jesus. His ministry is truly multi-ethnic, he is a student of culture and speaks to people where they are, while not allowing the worldly element of culture to dictate how he does ministry.
As a middle aged man, I would not be likely to be into rap music, but Damon and others at his church have gotten me enthused about what they are doing. There are several things I appreciate about it. One is it reaches the people for whom this music is a big part of their life. Second, these lyrics really communicate Bible truth and solid theology. Third, I appreciate the humility of Damon and these men who work with him. They are on fire for the Lord, and are not into “playing superstar” like so many in popular music. I got Damon to autograph a CD for one of my son’s friends, and I appreciated so much his humility and how he cared for the kid and wanted him to be a follower of Jesus.
He is dedicated to his wife and his little girls. Both of them are seeking to follow Jesus with all their heart, and there is a lot of love in that household and a lot of speaking the truth in love! Damon teaches his kids and plays with his kids, and seeks to be a real Daddy.

I have see D.A.’s passion for people, his love for each generation, and his excitement for God’s word to transform people. DA Horton has been an encouragement to our entire student ministry at First Evangelical Free Church of Wichita. Our students and leaders have had the pleasure of hearing DA at Challenge Conference 2010 and our Winter Retreat 2011. DA has captivated us with excellent rap music as well as challenged us with excellent expository preaching. DA's a not only a gifted poet and pastor, he's also a sincere shepherd who cares for those he serves. I'm thankful for DA's ministry and look forward to seeing how God uses him in the future.

D.A. Horton (Azriel) currently serves as the Lead Teaching Elder at Koinonia Bible Church, a multi-ethnic, multi-generational, and multi-subcultural church on the East side of Kansas City, MO. D.A. also uses the medium of Gospel Rap as a tool to help educate the people of God on the precepts of Scripture in addition to reaching out the lost by presenting them with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. D.A. is also an Adjunct Professor at Calvary Bible College teaching Systematic Theology and Urban Studies in the Non-Traditional program.
D.A. has been active in the ministry of Gospel rap for over 15 years, holds a B.S. degree in Biblical Studies from Calvary Bible College and a Master’s degree in Christian Studies from Calvary Theological Seminary. D.A. is currently working on his in Doctorate in Education Ministry at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. D.A. was licensed and ordained by Mt. Washington Baptist Church in November 2007.
It’s been said that, behind every good man is an extraordinary woman, D.A. is no exception to this axiom as his wife of 8 years Elicia, truly models biblical womanhood daily. Elicia is not only a full time pastor’s wife and mother, she recently graduated from Calvary Theological Seminary earning her Master's Degree in Religious Studies. Elicia also holds a B.S. degree in Organizational Leadership from Calvary Bible College. Elicia is now working on completing her Masters of Science in Organizational Development from Calvary Theological Seminary.
