Delta blues meets classic rock meets folk-pop is one way to describe Boston-area singer-songwriter Andrew Greene, whose infectious raspy vocals deliver raw passion and innovative phrasing. Combine all that with advanced guitar techniques and soulful harmonica playing and its evident why this self-described "poet with a guitar" has gained the admiration of fans and fellow musicians. Greene has opened up for artist such as; John Hammond, Geoff Mauldar, Arlo Guthrie and The Marshall Tucker Band.

Greene combines a laid-back approach on stage with a quiet yet powerful passion that creates a direct intimacy with his listeners. Greene’s connection to music began at age six, when he saw a broken guitar in the trash while walking with a neighborhood pal. He picked up the broken instrument and took it home, determined to play it until finally his parents bought him his first guitar. From there he began his fascination with music and eventually a journey that led him to develop his skills listening to the likes of The Beatles, Led Zeplin, Howling Wolf, Sunny Boy Williams, Chris Whitley, Muddy Waters, and Bob Dylan. At 14 he started playing harmonica and soon after began combining the harp with his guitar playing and songwriting.

It wasn’t until age 21, after his apartment and all of his personal belongings were destroyed in a fire, he began to focus on songwriting and performing seriously -- realizing the music he created was an extension of himself that could never be taken away. Once the songwriting took over, he never looked back and began honing his performance skills at area open mics and soon after was asked to play a wide range of shows and as well as accompany other artists at their gigs and on their albums.

His first CD, recorded at Rock Salt Studios in Watertown. Produced and engineered by studio owner Eric Salt, who says Greene’s songs “Seem to channel voices from the ether”.The album, says Greene, is self-titled and doesn’t have a theme. “All the songs are different… It’s a way to show people how many directions my music can go. The idea is to show all the pieces of who you are and all the places where you’ve come from”. With release of his CD, Greene’s music is bound to resonate throughout Boston and beyond.
