Bio

Shelley Chase has worked with children for over 20 years. As an early childhood educator, day camp leader, entertainer, musical theatre and cartoon instructor, she has created magical and interactive memories for her young charges through a love of the arts. Part of the Mr. Dress-Up generation, she believes children are still enchanted by puppets, new crayons and heartfelt melodies.

In her Shelley Bean persona, she draws upon a colourful repertoire Atlantic Canadian folk music and songs from the late composer Darrin Eck. She weaves joy and community through every lively performance, giving each young person and chance to be heard, the courage to sing loud and dance however they like. With interactivity and humour integral to her performance, it is not just the children, but also the Moms, Dads and caregivers that sing along.

From 2000 – 2010 Shelley Chase was the lead vocalist for double East Coast Music nominees Banshee; recording three albums and touring extensively throughout North America performing on Festival stages for young and adult audiences. She has produced entertainment shows for the Canadian Armed Forces in Dubai, the North Pole, France and Afghanistan.

In addition to traveling with The Duckety Muds (a colourful cast of award winning folk and traditional musicians), she co-owns Newfoundland and Labrador’s only full service music management company Garrison Hill Entertainment Ltd. with Great Big Sea stalwart Bob Hallett.

Shelley Bean is based in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador. The Duckety Muds reside in zoos and ponds from Point de Chene, New Brunswick to Cape Broyle Newfoundland and Labrador - except when they are playing fiddles, accordions and whistles for your children.
