"Hornell AOH Christmas Party"

“Callanch is a band with a multi-talented blend of musicians who bring traditional Irish/Cheltic ballads and fast pace rock to life! If you want to stomp your foot and swing your date, this is the band for you! With Marissa's hard driving fiddle, you can't sit still! What a great show they put on for our AOH party and we can't wait to have them back!”
- — Jerry McAneney, Entertainment Committee., Hornell AOH

"Wbester Farm Market"

"Callanach is very entertaining and delighted the crowd with a variety of music. Their energy level caught the attention of vendors and shoppers alike. There was positive feedback from everyone who had the good fortune to be present for their performance."

“I’m always a bit sceptic when bands claim they do something new with Celtic music. After all, how many innovations can still be made, and does it really make a tried-and-true concept better? Well, in this case, Callanach do bring something new to the Celtic music table, and it’s good. Right from the start, it’s clear their music is full of energy, while still retaining that underlying melancholy so typical to Celtic music. Still, Callanach sound sufficiently mainstream that even those who aren’t fans of Celtic music can enjoy it. The song “Donnie” in particular would not sound out of place on the radio..........All in all, Walk On Up is a great first effort by a band to keep an eye on.”

— Jan Jacob Mekes, Celtic Music Magazine

“Callanach is a young and fresh Celtic rock band hailing from Rochester, NY. They have been chosen our band of the month since their debut album “Walk On Up” is a very good addition to any Celtic Rock collection. The band was established around fiddler Marissa Ruper. Thus, the fiddle plays a major role on their music, but it’s perfectly backed by banjo, electric guitar, bass and drums.Let’s take “Irish Pubs”, the opening track. It’s the definitive pub song. It lists almost every pub in Ireland! Even if Callanach are not a Celtic punk band, it could be said that this catchy song could become a Celtic punk standard....Callanach don’t need pipes to make people dance, that’s for sure....If you were thinking that Celtic rock bands are predictable, check out Callanach.”
