Bio

Keith Burnstein (AKA Mr. Mumbles) is a New Orleans based singer/songwriter who pens timeless tunes to live by. He has studied with jazz greats Connie Crothers (Lennie Tristano, Max Roach) and Dick Odgren (Pat Metheny Band), absorbing the rich harmonic palette of jazz , and channeling it to write "Pop songs in the key of partying down" (Time Out New York).

Originally from the NYC area, Burnstein discovered and fell in love with New Orleans while touring with his band, The Mumbles, in late 2009. Although brief, this first trip made enough of an impression on Burnstein that he suggested to his drummer, Ethan Shorter that they pick up camp in Brooklyn and move to the Crescent City. Shorter, skeptical but with his interest piqued, joked with his band mate, "We'll move when the (New Orleans) Saints win the Superbowl"! One Saints Superbowl win later, Burnstein and his band were New Orleans residents. Since that time they have been performing most nights of the week to an ever-increasing following, marinating in that New Orleans sound, and touring relentlessly-- creating and performing from a new type of American songbook, one that will endure because of the "Mile wide hooks" (Offbeat), "Cunning lyrics and musicianship" (Mountain Times), and "Knack for writing songs that are instantly familiar while being very much their own creations" (Wildy's World Blog).

Since the move, Burnstein has toured with Herbie Hancock's Headhunters and released two critically acclaimed records (Annunciation St. and Last Night Wore the Crown) both available at all major internet retailers. Currently, Keith is hard at work on his third full length, Syncopatience, due out in 2014. The record promises to be the most eclectic and complete collection of songs he has released in his short history. For more info, please visit www.themumbles.org. The Mumbles' "Muddy Mantras" and "Once EPonymous" are both available on iTunes and at CDbaby.com
