"Villanova Times CD Review"

Their songs all sound vaguely familiar, but in a great way. Closer is reminiscent of the nineties rock we grew up with and is an intensely nostalgic album....Stuedabakerbrown is a necessity for every child of the nineties. - Villanova Times

Selling out venues and performing flawless, stirring versions of Killers' Human single is just the tip of the disc for this New York based quintet.
Though they've yet to make their mark, Stuedabakerbrown is well on its way with unique vocal stylings and thoughtful lyrics.

Closer is set to debut on October 21, 2008 and will be available on iTunes and other online-retailers, but you can head over to the Stuedabakerbrown site and download a few free tracks from their demo now.

they also have a surprisingly lightly visited myspace account.

tell me this simplistic cover of the new killers song Human is not good.

"Hitsession.com CD Review"

The word "Studebaker" conjures up images of men in fedoras driving their family to the Methodist church on Sunday morning. But put the Monroe, New York rock outfit Studebaker Brown in the car stereo and you'll be dealing with some serious audio horsepower.

This competent four piece band will be quite popular with fans of Semisonic and Jimmy Eat World. The songs favor an earnest mid-west style that are perfect for an ending montage on your favorite television show.

The four tracks available from the band's MySpace page begin with the rocker "Seven Years," which cooks up a good head of steam with driving guitars and interesting vocal melodies. "What You Already Know" is right out of the "Closing Time" power-ballad playbook. Beginning with a quietly strummed electric guitar, the song adds heartfelt vocals, then builds to a nice mid-tempo crescendo. The song's emotional content is sure to bring out the lighters at live shows.

Next up is "Goodbye," which cleverly dispenses with the standard rock vibe of the first two tracks and veers into a slightly experimental vibe that will excite the more creative members of the listening audience. With guitars alternate between jagged riffing and eerie soloing, this song might indicate a more interesting direction for the band.

The best track in this collection is "Dirty Miles." The guitars are allowed to run wild in a nearly shoegazing manner for a few moments, the tempo changes, the vocals kick in, then the guitars blast back into the front of the mix. The song makes no attempt at creating a vocal hook, but it all of the pieces come together to create a memorable sonic experience

Bio

Stuedabakerbrown has been entertaining fans with a unique blend of rock, indie, and pop for nearly a decade. Since 2001 the band has grown from a Monroe, NY hometown favorite to selling out some of New York City’s most notorious rock clubs (The Bitter End, Bowery Poetry Club, etc.) and performing as an opening act for national touring artists such as Say Anything (at SUNY Potsdam), Matt and Kim (at Duke University), Safetysuit, Locksley, Hanson, The Spill Canvas (at Michigan State University), 10 Years, and many more. Their 2010 LP Strangers We’ll Become has been hailed as a breakthrough album for the New York quintet. The 11-song album “hypnotizes in the best way possible. It's like Radiohead meets The Fray but even a little catchier,” praises ARTISTdirect.com editor and Dolor author Rick Florino.

The entire album and most of the band’s catalog has been licensed for use on a variety of cable networks including MTV, ESPN, and E! Most notably, the band has seen placement on September 2010 episodes of MTV’s Jersey Shore and Real World: New Orleans as well as a pair of 2008 segments on ESPN’s Sportscenter. Live performances by Stuedabakerbrown have been repeatedly featured on Fearless Music TV, a nationally syndicated live music program; and they have received regular airplay and artist spotlights on radio stations such as Q104.3 in New York City and WRRV in Poughkeepsie, NY. The band also enjoyed selections to 2010’s Red Gorilla Festival in Austin, TX and CMJ Music Marathon in New York, NY.

The band is currently working on a follow up album to Strangers We’ll Become, expected to be complete in 2011. All of the band’s albums, EP’s, and singles have been self-released and are currently available at all major online retailers.
