Bio
Benita Charles is originally from Detroit, Michigan. Her early roots were in church and she studied classical voice at Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, AR. She gained her stage experience in the heart of Motown Detroit, working with various live bands, local musical theatre productions and performing in local talent shows. In New York, she's appeared in at various clubs including Kavehaz, Kenny's Castaways, Downtime, Club Speed, Alphabet Lounge, Upstairs at Rose's Turn, Nell's and the Beacon Theater. In addition to performing in a wide variety of projects in the entertainment industry, Benita has created her own productions: a one-women show called, Moments In Love, in Greenwich Village, New York; and cabaret shows: The Benita Charles Show, The Benita Charles Variety Show (The Gift) and Benita Charles & Friends: In Remembrance of Sept 11 at the Triad Theater on the upper west side which has grown into an annual event for September Concert.
