Millagram est un dérivé du mot milligramme, provenant des initiales du prénom de Mary-Grace Koile (mg). Elle présentera le 1er décembre à la Casa del Popolo un spectacle pour souligner la parution de son EP « Creative Destruction », une production indépendante distribuée sous forme numérique.
Mary-Grace Koile est l’auteur tous les titres de « Creative Destruction », où elle pose sa voix sur les rythmiques de son compère No Fauxs (Dason Johnson). Elle y propose une sélection de sept titres campés dans ce qu’on retrouve de plus actuel en musique électronique ; on y perçoit des accents parfois funk, parfois bass, parfois dance, mais toujours habilement ficelé, à saveur Millagram.
Mary-Grace Koile est originaire de Nouvelle-Écosse, où elle s’est fait connaître en tant qu’artiste folk depuis son jeune âge. Son premier album « Your/Self », paru en 2008, fut nommé dans la catégorie Inspirational Artist/Group Recording auprès de la Nova Scotia Music Award la même année. Dès son arrivée à Montréal, elle savait que son identité artistique allait changer en cotoyant ces influences diverses et multiples. Montréal, cette ville foisonnante de talents, lui permit effectivement de rencontrer et de créer avec de nombreux artistes qui ont influencé son style ; entre autres, le collectif bien connu Kalmunity, mais c’est avec le producteur No Fauxs que le style musical de Millagram s’est vraiment cristallisé, de composition en composition.

Bio
Millagram known by birth as Mary-Grace Koile has been soothing souls with her thoughtful lyrics and upbeat arrangements for the past decade. Her musical path began in Nova Scotia where she was born and raised.
Her first full-length album "Your/Self" leaves the well trodden path of love songs and relationship songs for the subject of personal identity and universal love. The music is rich and layered, while the lyrics are as profound as they are simple.
Mary-Grace immediately became an artist to watch out for. An intimate connection with the listener was created, whether she was selling out concerts in a snow storm or showcasing at festivals and events around the maritimes.
She has appeared at three successive Nova Scotia Music Weeks. The 2008 edition took place in her hometown of New Glasgow where Mary-Grace participated as an award nominee (Inspirational Album of the year for Labour of Love EP), showcase performer, backup vocalist with David Myles at the Awards Gala, and member of one of the weeks’ “no-case” sensations The Ukeladies. She has collaborated with many of Nova Scotia’s most talented musicians and performers including David Myles, Christina Martin, Ryan MacGrath as well as Andru Branch and Halfway Tree whom she joined on stage singing background vocals in 2013 at the Atlantic Jazz Festival.
Mary-Grace eventually relocated to Montreal, Canada to pursue her music dreams. Her new project known as Millagram is to her a natural progression from her folk and motown roots. She combines electronic sounds with live instruments and powerful vocals to bring you danceable music with a message.
