Artist Information Biography Chris Pickering is what a cool breeze is to a stuffy room, with his fresh and unique songs that both mystify and entrance the listener, all wrapped up in an acutely contagious musical package. His lyrical deftness and attractive melodic sense are bridging the gap between country and indie-pop music, and he is close to truly claiming a style all of his own. Since releasing his debut EP Hard to Find in 2004 and the follow-up album A Safer Place (2005), he’s been winning over audiences throughout the country (and the U.S.A) with his distinctive sound, combining soaring melodies with lyrics that paint vivid pictures of life in – and out – of the country. In 2006, CP released his next EP, Ghost City. Produced by ARIA Award-winning legend Magoo, Ghost City earned CP a swag of rave reviews. The accolades continued in 2006 when he won his first QSong songwriting award for ‘Better Off’ (from A Safer Place LP). CP’s reputation as a musician on the rise was cemented in August 2007, when he secured his second QSong award for ‘The Humming Song’. This exceptionally talented singer, multi-instrumentalist, musician and songwriter from Brisbane, showcased at SxSW in Austin TX & toured Nashville/Memphis twice in 2008. He was also a finalist in three categories of the 2008 QSong Awards and a semi finalist in the UK Songwriting Awards. After launching his album Excuses Excuses to a full house at the Brisbane Powerhouse, it was picked up for release throughout Australia & New Zealand by Australian record label THINK, and distributed through Fuse Music Group. In 2009 CP has showcased at the Folk Alliance in Memphis, Musexpo in L.A., and has been residing, writing and performing in and around Nashville since February developing his craft. He returned to Australia in September for a well received national tour, and records his forthcoming album at Ardent Studios, Memphis in November 2009, with an expected release due early 2010.
