Biography
Marie comes from a pretty diverse background, having half her roots from New Orleans, the other half from Greece, and being raised in Brooklyn and Athens. Her earliest musical influences are Motown, New Orleans Jazz & Funk, Eastern Ethnic Music, and Old School NY Hip Hop. She started learning classical piano, dance, and singing in a church choir at a very young age, till at 15 she decided to pick up the guitar and has been playing ever since. Her early years of playing rock and blues with various garage bands slowly grew into a more specific and "mature" sound, and she teamed up with the duo Andy and Simon of Hyplar (les disques aquatic). As a vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and co-writer for Hyplar, Marie experimented with a fusion of what she describes as "liquid electronic crooning music that makes you want to roller skate". Parallel to performing with Hyplar, Marie was working with another reco rding band called Indaba with musicians Black Moses and Simo, also as a vocalist, rhythm guitarist and co-writer. Before leaving Greece, Marie teamed up with a producer and worked with him as a co-writer for many Greek pop artists on some funky soul and r&b music that today are hits.

Since moving back to NYC, Marie has been working on completing the production of her solo album "Melody of Love". Playing weekly shows at legendary NYC venues such as Kenny's Castaways, Pianos, The Living Room, etc. throughout the city with her band and building a good following. She was voted into the Top 10 in Myspace's Top Unsigned Artists for Neo-Soul for NYC, as well as featured artist and finalist in the 'Make My Music Video' competition for BestOfBands.com, interview and review for ballerstatus magazine, and Artist Spotlight interview for the tv show Artists Extreme on Manhattan Neighborhood Network.

Miss Marie
Mesmerizing Melodies

Sit back, unwind, relax, close those eyes, and indulge. Indulge in the melodic intuition of Miss Marie streaming through headphones, car stereo, or throughout a candle lit room. Her classy and refreshing swagger allows one to dissolve into an unpredictable ocean of “simply wonderful” music. Her song "Muñeca" depicts a consuming emotion of a hopeless romantic as her voice swiftly flirts with a saxophone while it sifts slowly through every guitar string and musical note
