Barbara Stephan Bio

As a highly sought after vocalist in the Milwaukee and Chicago areas, Barbara Stephan is a master at writing and singing catchy, memorable contemporarily groovy tunes and has a soulful, powerful sound.  She grew up in a Wisconsin small town (Afton, WI) and was lucky enough to have a jazz-guitarist father who put her in his band at 13 years old.  He taught her all the classics and she’s been singing and writing ever since.  Along with performing background vocals for blues singer Susan Tedeschi, Barbara has been a regular performer at all of the major music festivals in Milwaukee including Summerfest, Third Ward Jazz Festival, Rainbow Summer, Jazz In The Park, the Sharon Lynne Wilson Center and many others.  She was also a featured performer at The Bitter End in New York’s Greenwich Village last September.  Her voice has been featured on many commercials including Hyundai, AT&T and Potowotami Casino.  Her newly released original album entitled “I’m Awake”, is a culmination of the many styles of music she loves with influences that range from Stevie Wonder to Sting to Ella Fitzgerald.  Along with an impressive performing schedule. she also teaches voice at the Waukesha County Conservatory of Music.  Visit her website at barbarastephan.com or EPK at www.soncibids.com/barbarastephan for more information
