Biography
Courtney Farquhar's voice is roomy, dark-hued, sophisticated and sultry.  From a very young age, Courtney's retention for songs was such that she could recite an entire tune, lyrically and melodically, beginning to end, from the very first listen.  Through extensive studying of the Suzuki method, she developed that natural skill even further using the piano as well as her voice.  Also an accomplished guitarist, she now has the power to command, and silence, any room.  Courtney is one of the few singer-songwriters who needs only her voice, an instrument and a compelling narrative to thrive.

The intensity and authenticity of her music brought Courtney to the attention of Garry Newman (past President and CEO of Warner Music Canada).  Her song, "That's What Happens" was included and released on Warner's 'Women and Songs 7' album which has gone platinum in Canada.  Shortly afterwards, Courtney recorded, produced and released (along with Ben Riley) her first 6 song EP which enabled her to tour in Canada and Europe.

On her forthcoming CD, Courtney opens up her heart, soul, and psyche in a series of memorable songs that invite you into her world.  Courtney is joined by an incredible band including; Kevin Breit on acoustic and electric guitar, mandolin, dobro, (etc.)  Ben Riley on drums and percussion, Dylan Heming on keyboards, Ross MacIntyre on Bass and Marc Rogers on Bass.  Very special guests include Ron Sexsmith and Mary Margaret O'Hara!  Keep an eye out for the new CD, set for release in early fall 2009.

"Many have tried to fly the flag of the singer/songwriter angle over the years. Yet only voices like Toronto's Courtney Farquhar have the aptitude to pull it off..." --CG, Soundproof Magazine (Feb.06)
