Artist Information Biography Born in Winnipeg. Raised in a hockey town (pop'n 485). Classically trained as a pianist. Divorced the piano at age 18 and began buying guitars. Recorded his solo debut in 2006/07. Mixed by Paul James (Christine Fellows, Luke Doucet), the album is ambient acoustic music. Beautiful contributions made by Ron Halldorson (Lenny Breau Trio) and Bill Western (Nathan) on pedal steel, and Kimberley McMechan on vocals. A record for listeners who typically find short answers misleading. A dedicated guitarist and hitchhiker, Michael Peters is a multi-talented musician who consistently garners effusive praise from peers as well as audience members. He currently works as an in-hospital musician with the organization Manitoba Artists in Healthcare. In addition to the Lanois-meets-Cockburn ambient folk of his debut, Peters adeptly picks the blues, sings jazz standards, tears a strip off bluegrass old & new, and is in the process of memorizing the entire Townes Van Zandt songbook. In the spring of '08 Peters spent several months in Kelowna working with producer Danny McBride (Joe Cocker, Chris de Burgh) on Kimberley McMechan's soon-to-be released major label debut. Upon returning to Winnipeg, Peters began gigging and recording with a stripped down band, consisting of Julian Bradford (Moses Mayes) on upright bass, and Richard Moody (The Bills) on violin. With a number of tracks already mixed, the new album is scheduled for an April 2009 release date. You may not have heard of him so far, but you're about to.
