Artist Information Biography Established as the current collective in October of 2005, A Scribe Amidst The Lions is starting a buzz with intense live performances at high caliber San Diego and Los Angeles clubs, while independently releasing their own records and pushing multiple US tours [including a March 07’ trip to Austin’s SXSW Festival to perform for the Skratch Magazine / CDfuse.com stage]. *”WHAT IS THE MUSIC LIKE?” WE’LL LET OTHER PEOPLE DO THE TALKING* "Every track is filled with a new story and a new sound to knock your socks off. For listeners who have been patiently waiting for something to intrigue your ears, your day has finally come." - SAN DIEGO PUNK.COM, “musically they’re nothing short of fascinating...more truly psychedelic than a truckload of paisley-shirted retro acts. Their debut full-length TELL does a fine job of capturing this, but live ASATL really get the chance to stretch out, weaving strains of melody through intricate walls of sound.” – THE ONION – Milwaukee 9.14.06 Vol. 42, issue 37 "The songs are epic. Every element is thought out, nothing left to chance...though certainly not predictable." - BLOG SAN DIEGO 12.23.06 "The songs on A Scribe Amidst The Lions' latest full-length release, entitled Tell, form a mesmerizing array of tempo changes and dynamic shifts, all executed with razor-sharp precision. A Scribe... stands out in their genre by employing and ambient sound that explores musical peaks and valleys in a very engaging way. Their music is experimental and challenging, but quite rewarding in the end. 'Tell' shows this band moving in a good direction, where interesting experimentation meets good songwriting, forming a unique sound that gives A Scribe Amidst The Lions a lot of promise" – REVOLT MAGAZINE [July 2007] "Once you tune into their unique and spell casting sound, you’ll be instantly hooked and addicted wanting to hear more. Withdrawal symptoms are severe." - THE MIDNIGHT STREETS [.com], Salt Lake City UT ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: *Influential bands include: Pink Floyd, Fugazi, Radiohead, Smashing Pumpkins, Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Jeff Buckley, Frank Zappa, Modest Mouse, Beck, Sunny Day Real Estate, Muse, Bob Marley, Miles Davis, Duke Ellington, Portishead, The Mars Volta, Bob Dylan, The Beatles, At The Drive-In, Man? Or Astro Man?!, many many more! After releasing their debut full-length in May of 2006 [TELL on Zenwhisper Recordings], A Scribe Amidst The Lions are gearing up to release their second full-length LP “SUNKEN CITIES”, and looking for label support. While TELL was recorded and mixed at the lavish Strate Sound Studios with Alan Sanderson [the incredible engineer behind records like Weezer’s “Green Album”, The Rolling Stone’s “Bridges To Babylon”, and countless other big records], most of the tracks for this second album have come from studio sessions with up and coming smaller, more attentive indie San Diego studios like Black Box Studios and Sushifish Studios. From the album “SUNKEN CITIES”, one song has already been leaked and heard on San Diego radio FM94.9 – “Scripted Daydreams” - and the first proper single, “The Equator Swallowed The Boys” will be hitting the streets very, very soon. *To hear samples of these songs online, photos, tour dates, and more press reviews please visit our EPK at www.sonicbids.com/ascribeamidstthelions or one of the many other online places to find A Scribe Amidst The Lions www.ascribeamidstthelions.com www.myspace.com/ascribeamidstthelions www.purevolume.com/ascribeamidstthelions www.garageband.com/ascribeamidstthelions CD-Baby, i-tunes, and more! Much of the music has already been leaked on the internet and radio with welcomed excitement. Unlike a lot of bands who are "in the studio", ASATL still manages to tour extensively and play top-notch Southern CA venues [THE CASBAH, 4TH AND B, THE BELLY UP, THE GIG, THE SCENE BAR, CANE'S, THE GOOD HURT, etc], giving life and space to the new songs and taking the live show to a new platform, while secret storing all the experimental and dangerous info to be diagnosed later "in the studio". *On Sunday, April 29th 2007, Tim Pyles and FM94.9 played the song "SCRIPTED DAYDREAMS", the first single from the next album! With touring and DIY promotion, the song should be popping up on indie radars all across the world, right about now. :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: "Sunken Cities" was release to critical acclaim in June of 2008 - *Nominated for 2008's San Diego Music Awards for "Best Alternative Album" *Selected as FM94.9 Radio's "Recommended" albums for both July and August. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: "Evil Santa" was released as a single in November 2008 and debuted on FM94.9 Radio Sunday, November 24th 2008. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: New recordings are almost done and there will be more vinyl releases [singles] in the fall of 2009 and the third full-length slated for winter 2009.
