Artist Information Biography Founded by singer songwriters Jim Burgdorf and John Hardin (a relative of the infamous southern outlaw John Wesley Hardin). The Blackwater Prophets draw from a unique background of blues, country, punk, rock and southern Appalachian murder ballads. The project centers around the deconstruction of music to an intimate and solely artistic level. Relying on rudimentary acoustic groundwork, the tasteful use of technology and years on the road. John Hardin’s prior endeavors include over ten years as founding member of the industrial project Saint Famine Society. They have spent over a decade supporting national and international artists, touring the states solo and performing with many bands associated with Invisible Records (including members of the industrial group Pigface). He received coverage on all three major television networks due to his protest of a proposed concert rating system in Charlotte NC. With some support from the Dead Kennedy’s Jello Biafria among other artists, the movement he spearheaded succeeded in overturning the system before it was put in place. Throughout Hardin’s career he has performed at many legendary venues including New York City’s CBGB’s, and The Continental… In August of 2006 Jim Burgdorf passed away and left an indelible imprint on the now solo effort. His resonator guitar work can be heard on two tracks of the debut release. While all instruments except drums are recorded by Hardin in the studio, live performances feature established and respected musicians. Jeff Rowe was a part of the early NYC punk and electronic scene, is owner and engineer of Buzz Cut Studio and plays bass with punk/power pop band Paperboy. Fred Hensley is the fulltime drummer for alternative metal band Mindshapefist. He has shared stages with many legendary metal artists, toured as a member of Saint Famine Society and provided all the drums for the Blackwater Prophets studio recordings. While not performing with The Blackwater Prophets or Saint Famine Society, Hardin continues to work as a roadie and Chef in the music industry and has toured and worked with many legandary artists on the arena and theatre concert circuit. Sense the inception of this project Hardin has performed the material solo in the US and Europe to an overwhelmingly positive response. The Blackwater Prophets will be playing a few shows in Australia and New Zealand in October and November of 2009 The band is currently seeking a fulltime Bass player for 2010 performances. more videos and songs can be found at www.myspace.com/blackwaterprophets Instrumentation John Hardin- Vocals, Guitar, Bass, B3, Harp, Keys Fred Hensley- Live/studio Drums Jeff Rowe- Live Bass Jennifer Denton- Live drums Alternating lineup of established musicians for select live performance subject to venue, nature of show, budget and availability .
