Artist Information Biography Sydney born Melissa Robertson is a country-folk singer songwriter who began singing solo's at the age of 16 representing her school in regional concerts, musicals and music camps. She grew up in a musical family, her father was a clarinet player and as a teenager Melissa performed major roles in theatre productions in Sydney and Queensland in The Boyfriend, Bye Bye Birdie, Fiddler on the Roof and Dracula Spectacular. In the 1980’s she gained more experience by joining a covers band playing at various functions and parties. Melissa did some formal singing studies with Joan Ford, learning Arias . She won 2nd prize in the City of Penrith Eisteddfod in 1986 and 2nd prize in the Cowra Eisteddfod in 1990 and 1992. She became a country girl when she moved to regional NSW, her love for the land and her passions for country and folk music grew when she began writing her own songs about her life experiences. Melissa has participated at the Country Music Muster, is a member of The Folk Alliance, won 3rd prize in the Grenfell Henry Lawson Busking Competition 2009 and submitted her song RIDE OF YOUR LIFE to the 29th Australian Songwriting Contest and was shortlisted! Melissa continues to perform at cafes, clubs and functions throughout NSW. Melissa is working on her upcoming EP "Ride of Your Life" which will be released in 2009. Packed with passion, sincerity and honesty, this recording of songs displays her natural songwriting ability, guitar playing and wonderful voice.
