Artist Information Biography What does your band sound like? That is the first question forced upon many bands, including the Gypsy West. They consider themselves to sound like themselves. Precision and unpredictability are blended with unique songwriting of catchy hooks and riffs. Bob Dylan, the Band, Radiohead, Television, Amoroso, Led Zeppelin, Built to Spill, Yes, and Soundgarden have all been used in an attempt to create some immediate identifiable sound for the Gypsy West. Define what you will. Their debut album "Dustfires" should be listened to from start to finish to get the full scope of the band's intention. From a production standpoint, "Dustfires" is bold in its mixing and timbres and from an artistic standpoint, it is an uncompromising and original debut featuring a band fearlessly themselves. The Gypsy West also recorded a cover of "All Along the Watchtower" for the internationally published book/record "The Next Paradigm". They expect to be recording their new record in the fall. NYC Finalists in the Emergenza 2009 Festival the Gypsy West is above all things a LIVE band. "Intimate, breathless...this lean trio stomps with the ferocity of a deadly orchestra onstage"-the Maine Switch. Their sets are full of surprises, blending songs unexpectedly, incorporating new and well known covers often mistaken for Gypsy West songs due to the band's desire to make everything they play sound truly unique.
