Carrie Catherine loves telling a good story. Playful and passionate, she mesmerizes audiences with her soulful folk/pop sound and crafted songs. Adding groovy rhythms and brilliant energy to the mix, audiences can't help but dig into the songs--toes tapping, shoulders swaying. On stage, she's natural and warm with prairie sensibilities.
THE ALBUMS
In 2003, Carrie Catherine released her debut album Out the Car Window which was featured numerous times on television's Joan of Arcadia and Beautiful People. For her next project, she teamed with John MacArthur Ellis (Jeremy Fisher, The Be Good Tanyas, Barney Bentall) to produce Venus Envy: "arguably the best Saskatchewan independent release of 2005" (Gerry Krochak, Regina Leader Post). Venus Envy playfully honors Carrie's passion for soul music, and this influence continues to be heard in her album, Green-Eyed Soul. With producer/percussionist Don Kerr (Ron Sexsmith, Rheostatics), Green-Eyed Soul achieves a rootsy, soulful sound and irresistible groove. She's currently recording her fourth album in Nashville with producer Colin Linden.
COMMUNITY
When Carrie's not on the road, she actively builds the cultural community in her hometown of Saskatoon, on the Canadian prairie. She produces the Hayloft house concert series in an old Safeway store converted into live/work space and performance venue. And she owns The Cherch: Place of Art Worship--an old church converted into work/performance space for artists. Carrie Catherine gratefully acknowledges the support of the Sask Arts Board, Sask Music, and sponsorship from Boutique Be You Te Ful and Deja vu Salon. She is an Artist Associate for WorldVision.
