After Gush, Heather and Jon began to collaborate for the first time as co-writers, meeting a few times a week in Heather’s closet of a writing studio in the heart of Hollywood. Their claustrophobia and Heather’s calling to get back in front of live audiences lead the two to realize it was time to start a new band. Jon knew Ryan through the tight knit music scene in Boston, and Jon convinced Ryan to a spin. “He definitely needed an initial push” says Skibic “but, we grew on him.” After some concentrated studio time, the trio have been thrilling standing room only Los Angeles audiences on a regular basis with their live performances, including a sold out record release party at the historic Troubadour. REDCAR completed their debut album in March 2007, produced by Grammy award winner Greg Collins (U2, Gwen Stefani). The album was released by Phyllis Records, an indie label based in Silver Lake, California. Redcar was selected as the “Critical Eye” band by Yahoo! Music. The band takes its name from the small seaside town of Redcar in Northern England, the birthplace of Heather’s mother and home to the most delicious fish and chips in all of England.
