Biography
“One of the biggest things I learned by working with Clive Davis, back in the Arista days,” said Bill Scull, EO Records CEO, “is that it is all about the songs, and Lorenzo has those songs.”
Like similar rock artists, Nickelback, Daughtry and 3 Doors Down, Lorenzo’s sound is characterized by great songs driven by high-energy guitar.
The Lorenzo story started when Bill Scull heard Marko’s songs, “Little Breakdown” and “2 a.m.” at an ascap demo review session. Although Marko didn’t even get mentioned for top honors, Scull, who has worked in the industry for years singled him out, signed him to his EO label, changed the band’s name to Lorenzo and sent Marko out to record his label’s first CD.
That’s when Scull and Emanon Records founder, Mike Busch enlisted [future] two-time Juno award winner and Ozzy Osbourne co-writer/producer, Kevin Churko to produce the CD. Churko, (who had just finished working on a Shania Twain album with Mutt Lange), told Scull after he heard the demos, “This is the kind of artist every producer dreams of finding.”
Lorenzo quickly rose to become the top independent rock acts in the midwest per the Billboard/DiscMakers Independent Music World Series. They got their first Billboard add at WEBN in Cincinnati, and opened for several major acts, such as 3 Doors Down, Default and Hinder.
Tour manager, Mike Stuckey came up with an idea for Marko to join forces with a couple members of the band Lowa who shared a common practice space with Lorenzo.
Marko received the call from Jason Viebrooks, a household name in the world of Metal (Heathen, Grip Inc, the band formed by Slayer’s Dave Lombardo). The merger immediately increased the professionalism as well as the talent of the band. What has emerged is Lorenzo’s most exciting and talented lineup to date.
Lorenzo has just been named the Official Band of MMA “The Big Show” which has been televised on the CW but will now be seen in over 80 Million homes worldwide on the Sky Network. The broadcast uses Lorenzo’s music as the opening theme song and uses other tracks throughout the show. The band also performs live at the MMA events all across the country and eventually the world.
Recently, the band has been asked to be the first band to be featured in a brand new media/video installation that will soon be in clubs, restaurants, airports, malls and numerous other places. It will feature video of the band performing 5 of their new songs on separate screens. This patented concept by the PlazmaPeople will be making its debut early in 2010.
While all this is happening, Lorenzo is filming a reality program documenting their trials and successes in the music business. From day jobs to full-time musicians, the real-life story of Lorenzo and a “certain aspect of the band” has already garnished attention from producers and networks and will coincide with the release of their new CD in 2010.
With a new CD’s worth of material already recorded, Marko has put together a “tour-ready” music machine.
This package, built on hit-songs, professionalism and marketability, is the closest thing to a turn-key operation as you can get in the music industry. Stemming out from Rock CD with crossover potential, Marko and the band is ready for radio interviews, in-stores and phone interviews to promote the CD. With the support of Backsteet Booking and Thunderbolt Systems, national tour dates are possible at the most limited costs, even including production for the headlining acts. All of this of course, will be recorded and edited for television by BusyBoy Entertainment. It should be a very busy 2010.
