Artist Information Biography The Ten Foot Polecats are a three piece Massachusetts based Deep Punk Blues band that has a very unique sound, at least in these parts, as the band has derived their sound from the North Mississippi Hill Country, Detroit, Memphis, and The Mississippi Delta areas. The band (Jay Scheffler (v), Jim Chilson (g), and Dave Darling (d)) has used these influences to create their own sound back through some of the dirty back alley ways, and side street dive bars they play… while turning a stagnant room into a crazy southern juke joint vibe. The release of their debut CD, “Sterno Soup”, has gotten them local and national acclaim in the blues and alt. blues community throughout the United States and Europe. To date the band has played, or has scheduled dates in Chicago, Indiana, Minnesota, New York City, Oregon, Seattle, and New Mexico, along with the many shows in the Eastern & Central Massachusetts area. Currently the band is at work on a new CD that is due to be released in late 2009. Our influences are drawn from: RL Burnside, Junior Kimbrough, John Lee Hooker, Howlin' Wolf, T-Model Ford, Hound Dog Taylor, Mississippi Fred McDowell, Son House, The Black Keys, Blind Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson, Skip James, Jesse Mae Hemphill, Muddy Waters (of course), Willie Dixon, Hubert Sumlin, basically anyone from Northern Mississippi and the Delta UPDATE: The Ten Foot Polecats were selected to play The Deep Blues Festival in Minneapolis Minnesota (July 15 thru 19, 2009). They are the only band from the New England Area that has been selected to play.
