Hailed as "one of today's most exciting, experimental, and diverse bands" (John Roos- OC Weekly), BAYADERA has just won the prestigious Orange County Music Awards Best Song of the Year for “Red Shoes” from their new critically acclaimed album, Rotation of the Earth. In fact these have been exciting times for BAYADERA since being featured with musical icon Stevie Wonder at the Universal Globe Theatre, having their new record played on radio stations across the country, and now being licensed with Bunim Murray Productions and placing their songs on national tv shows for MTV, VH1, E!, and the Oxygen Network including the hit shows "The Hills" starring Lauren Conrad and the Kardashian sisters new show "Kourtney and Khole in Miami".
Primarily rock based, BAYADERA combines strong solid grooves ala old school R&B from a unified rhythm section of Chris Payne (bass), Donn Untiet (drums), and Evonne Untiet (percussion), with splashes of Latin flare, modern digital nuances, and melodic artistry from Saatara (electric guitar) and award winning blind guitarist Dat Nguyen (nylon string guitar). Heading the group is sultry singer Gina Bandy who weaves heartfelt and introspective lyrics thru the band's musical landscape, capturing the essence of the human experience with her powerful yet delicate delivery.
BAYADERA continually performs in popular festivals such as the 86th LA County Fair, the nations largest fair and the 119th OC Fair, one of the nations longest running fair. BAYADERA has been featured from local, to nation and even international media including appearances on the Rick Dees radio show, MTV, The Oxygen Network, KSCITV, KRSI international radio, VNCR international radio, TV Land with Sherman Hemsley (George Jefferson), and Imagine Asian TV. They have also shared the stage with numerous famous artists across the country such as Berlin, Sugar Ray, The Violent Femmes, Carlos Gomez, Arturo Sandoval, and Tito Puente Jr. BAYADERA is a melting pot of musical styles, backgrounds, and experiences. They represent and reflect our diverse society today; focusing on our common urge to seek a middle ground.
