Artist Information

Biography
CINEMA CINEMA , the Brooklyn based indie-experimental 2 piece, gave birth to a new record release, their 1st full length, EXILE BABY, via Digitone Records, (whom they worked with on their 1st EP - Viva!, in 2006) and with the band's self run home base, The Lumiere Label.

Drawering on Drawerings and focusing on focus, the striking 2-piece present a new direction in sound with their third release.  Treating the studio as a camera, they capture moving still pictures of their growth on this record.  Epic highs, cold iron lows and cinematic musical movements.  Driven and pounding drums ring like cannon's, chaotic splintered guitars chime with purpose. Vocals cry with the urgency of a dying man.  Sit down and hear the cry of the EXILE BABY, a story about the end of the world, as we know it and the birth of the next. All songs written and produced by Ev Gold and Paul Claro.  Recorded, mixed and mastered by Vin CIN(-EMA) at Electric Plant Studios/Brooklyn, New York. Distributed by Digitone Direct and released by The Lumiere Label, the new record will be available via all digital outlets including iTunes, emusic and others.

Broadening the scope of their musical movements with hook-laden craftwork and infectious melodies, the Brooklyn based CINEMA, CINEMA stroke a new brush to indie rock.

2008 has been a year of a lot of change in Cinema, Cinema, with a new line-up, a new configuration and approach.

Cinema, Cinema is now Paul Claro on drums and Ev Gold on vox/guitars. 2 pieces of hard volume. ----They have been focusing on writing new material and gigging as hard as possible since the new line-up took hold in Feb 08. They have brought the new material and approach out all over the NYC metro area (the Delancey, Luna Lounge {r.i.p.}, Bowery Poetry Club, Bar Matchless, Goodbye Blue Monday, Rehab formerly known as Club Midway, Lit Lounge, Don Pedro's, Piano's, Fontana's, Southpaw, & the Knitting Factory) and have the Midpoint Music Festival in OH coming up at the end of the month amongst other things coming in the fall.

Riff mosaic monster play and crashing drums meet passion stained vocals and a drive for more, more, more. The duo features Ev Gold on vocals, scenery and guitar massacre and Paul Claro driving the drums and laying down the concrete.

C,C's debut e.p. - Viva!! was released 11.21.2006 via DIGITONE RECORDS. It was recorded & mixed at Headgear Studios in Brooklyn (home to TV on the Radio and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, among others), & produced by SF Norton (who has worked with Son Volt, Jay Farrar, The Last Town Chorus, Division of Planes, etc).

Their follow up "The Brooklyn Theatre Fire", was released in March 2008 through the Brooklyn based The Lumiere Label, with SF Norton once again at the helm.

Meaning: From French cinéma, shortening of cinématographe (term coined by the Lumière brothers in the 1890s) - Ancient Greek (kinema) "movement", from (kineo) "to move, to put in motion". In cinema, this system is derived from the artists’s choice of the kinds of “elements” of construction to employ and their order and timing, and from his awareness of a total structural design for his film. This process generally involves presenting chiefly linear information (the story) through a battery of shots. Using various cinematic configurations, the artist creates expectations in his audience, which thus elaborates on the given information. The audience is drawn into a decoding cycle controlled by subliminal interactions of reality and illusion. The result is the mystique of cinema art – cinesthetic impact.
