Artist Information Biography Lawrence Cresswell, who hails from Kitchener-Cambridge, Ontario, has played fingerstyle guitar on the acoustic and classical guitar for over 25 years. He considers himself basically self-taught, despite formal training in theory and performance with the Royal Conservatory of Music and with several private tutors. His personal style of guitar playing draws upon various performance techniques such as rhythm methods and accompaniment styles, although he has come to favour finger-style and methods common to early and contemporary music. It is from both the acoustic and classical guitar that Lawrence obtains sincere satisfaction, for he feels they allow him to more fully explore the expressive potential of the instruments, both as a performer and as a composer. While the majority of his own compositions have been written for solo guitar, he has developed arrangements for guitar and flute, synth string accompaniments and various sizes of vocal ensembles and choirs.
