Biography
Universal Slim & The Blues Kangaroos have been in existence for more than 25 years. They’ve shared the stage with both local and national acts throughout the Midwest and the South. They are proud to have won 2 Suburban Nitelife entertainment magazine "Best of the Burbs" competitions for "Best Blues Band", the first in 2005 and the second in 2007".
Armed with an all "new" backing band, The "new” Blues Kangaroos, Universal Slim & The Blues Kangaroos are NOT your typical blues band. They pride themselves with a mix of hard rock-n-roll, heavy blues and a little Southern fried rock thrown in just for fun! And FUN you will have at a Universal Slim & The Blues Kangaroos show!
Vocalist/guitarist, Bob "Slim" Rader, (Universal Slim) Being the founder and only remaining member of the
original band. The "NEW" Blues Kangaroos (Slims current backing band), feature the veteran rhythm section of Ron Wright (bass) and Scott Tyrcha (drums) have played together for more than 20 yrs.
They have been laying the foundation for such bands as Ol’Dogs New Trix and Deb Seitz & The Ol’Dogs Blues Band.
Our good friend and "guitar slinger", Lou Aguado is the lead guitarist for Universal Slim & The Blues Kangaroos! Lou is a veteran guitarist with many years of playing experience, he is the former lead guitarist for Ol‘ Dogs New Trix, Deb Seitz & The Ol’ Dogs Blues Band and more recently, classic rock band, “Sidetrack” from Trevor Wisconsin.
Slim & the band enjoy playing! Whether it be an intimate club setting, outdoor festival, bike run or a cancer benefit, the goal here is that EVERYONE gets involved and has fun! Universal Slim & The Blues Kangaroos are out to have a good time and that everyone that comes to a show, has an even better time!
