Biography
RAW (Righteous African Warrior) (Marco Mota Da Veiga), was born June 20th 1980, in Oslo, Norway. RAW who is from the Cape Verde Islands in West-Africa is a Man of GOD.
As a child he went through a lot of harassment and discrimination because of his identity. Growing up in Babylon was tough, so ever since a child, he was, and had to be a born fighter. "I don't favor the black side nor the white side - I favor the JAH side".
As a youth it was clear to see that he was a leader, warrior and like a fearless Lion he would fight for his or his friends rights. RAW went through a mental hell, but I quote; "Thanks to GOD, who carried me through with HIS ARM, I prevailed". RAW's revolutionary mind and spiritual aspect of life and nature, makes him a unique and special person.
RAW is a very serious Man, and he has always felt the pain and suffering of the poor deep in his heart, mind and soul. Therefore he is very concerned about equal rights and justice, and freedom for all. He is a Man of Love, with high morals, ethics and values in life. His main Idols are his Dad, Bob Marley and 2Pac. RAW started his own organization in 2002 called "Youth United", working for the good and to better the conditions of youths. Once while I was talking to RAW he said, I quote; "Youth United is the Future".
At the age of 15 he started to Rap and freestyle in the hood with his friends, who were from every continent, and by the age of 17 he realized that he was blessed with the talent to write and express himself lyrically about the world and universal situation. It was here on the streets of Oslo and the area around that he met several other rappers, and his love and interest for "The mission" just grew stronger and stronger.
RAW used to be part of a group called "Black Fist" (1999-2000), but after some betrayal in the group he moved on and formed his own group called "Abidas Tribe" (2001-2002), but also here he eventually had to move on, due to complication within the group. RAW continued doing what he always had been doing, "Fighting", for righteousness, what he believes in, and for the good. Moving on as a lone "Rider", having only his family to come to in times of intense pressure, RAW always kept the faith, hope and love, that one day he would achieve his GOD given goal, his dream, and reach his aim, goal and destination.
In 2002 RAW won the "MC's fight night freestyle battling", and September 16th 2005, he released his first single called "GOD".
The content and message of his lyrics is of main and great importance to RAW, because through his GOD-given words, he spreads truth, light and shows the way of life. RAW's powerful lyrics and voice touches and reaches everyone's heart, mind and soul, helping people worldwide to express whatever motion, pain, love, frustration, isolation or feeling they may be going through.
RAW has also started his own record label called "Selassie Records".
Everything RAW does has a meaning and a purpose. He is a Rebel without pause, a Freedom Fighter and a Spiritual Warrior. RAW is here to stay for eternity and a voice to be reckoned with for ever.
