Here is what a few people are saying about The Working Hour:

"Presented beautifully. A clean, great arrangement, lean and understated with a perfect focus on the vocal (and what a vocal!) brilliant work.” - Tom Griswold, The Bob & Tom Show

"Love the song...really dig his voice..." - Mike Flynn, Sony A&R Producer of The Fray.

"Nice vocals, and a great story." - Brad Holtz, Program director at 92.3 WTTS-FM.

"The fruit of their efforts, Unbreakable, is a remarkably polished, cohesive album that showcases every ounce of those two years of work. Produced by Zero Boys frontman Paul Mahern, the record offers a variety of power-pop arrangements that are catchy and well-developed, complex and rich. The album's subject matter may be age-appropriate for their combined four decades of life — girl is loved, then let go, then regret sets in — but the instrumentation, production value, and overall quality belongs to a much older group." - Sarah Murell, NUVO Magazine

The founding members of The Working Hour never imagined that a chance meeting in middle school and subsequent informal practice sessions would set the stage for their future music careers. Now, seven years later, Andrew Riesmeyer (Piano, Guitar, Lead Vocals) and Peter Doherty (Drums, Vocals) have grown from two kids making noise to two musicians creating mature and fresh pop rock. By combining the midwestern yesteryear Americana of Tom Petty and Jackson Browne with the contemporary atmospheric sounds of Radiohead and Death Cab For Cutie, The Working Hour delivers an earnest and approachable sound with infinate headroom for imagination.

It was weekend practices in an Indianapolis basement-turned-studio where the duo first began to hone their craft. What is obvious in The Working Hour is the cohesiveness of the group. The Riesmeyer/Doherty energy that shows through on all of the group’s work is a direct result of years of working together. During the years that Riesmeyer and Doherty studied at school, they casually wrote pop material for an audience of their friends and family. Their music attracted the attention of Affirmation Records founder and Zero Boy’s front man Paul Mahern. Mahern, who had just finished work on The Fray’s How To Save A Life and was a regular in John Mellencamp sessions took a leap of faith to reach out to the group. Mahern helped the band establish a direction and after years of coaching, musical exploration, and sonic soul searching, The Working Hour had finally figured it out.

There is a certain musical diversity that both Riesmeyer and Doherty bring to the table that makes The Working Hour so interesting. It’s no surprise then that the debut album, Unbreakable, has two faces. At once it is channeling the light-at-the-end-of-the-tunnel eupohric energy of Billy Joel, Tom Petty and Van Morrison on tracks like “How Does It Feel”, “Unbreakable” and “Everybody Knows”. Then, in an in instant, it wraps arms around the depth and concern of Band of Horses’ or Death Cab For Cutie’s ethereral and shimmering imagery with tracks like “Back to Me”, “Careful” and “Something to Belong to”. Lead singer Andrew Riesmeyer’s distinct voice and style gives breath filled thought to every line. The care and emotion behind the voice and melody paint detailed and remarkably personal themes. Each line of every song is well thought out, evoking tales of how the simplest of contact or relationship with another person can become complicated, distant and even hearbreaking. It’s the clarity of these themes coupled with Peter Doherty’s melodic and sophisticated drumming that makes Unbreakable such a listening pleasure.
