Biography

“Lindsay is an inspiring and vibrant singer-songwriter who brings heart and soul into her songs. Her rich voice, at times haunting, soars and surges with the ups and downs of a girl’s life in full pursuit of what it means to be alive.”
- Laurie Gough, Author

Lindsay Ferguson has been harbouring a passion for music since before she could even speak. Songs have been naturally flowing out of her from a place that even she cannot name. She was born on the Island of Bermuda and has been seeking fresh ocean air ever since she left for Ontario in the 1980’s.

She moved to Ottawa for University, then on to Newfoundland to pursue that fresh sea air once more. Living in a community that is largely musically based, Lindsay was finally able to embrace music fully, and this is where she bought her first guitar and wrote her first songs. Having had encouragement all her life with regards to her singing voice, it was all just a matter of time before she was able realize her craft and Newfoundland is where it all started. Moving to Ireland a few years later she found herself immersed in more music culture, and living in a different time and place, was able to sharpen her skill in the writing and playing department through unique life experience. Bitten by the bug of Travel, Lindsay found herself living in a few more creative places where she was able to further polish her talent, bringing it back to Canada, her home.

She has since entered Music Festivals around the country, had the pleasure to record an outstanding first full length album with Dave Draves of LIttle Bullhorn Productions which was voted “2nd Best Canadian recording of 2007 (next to Feist’s Reminder) by The Ottawa Citizen. The album “Sound.” and Lindsay, have both been getting rave reviews wherever they go. Lindsay has played at such music conferences as Canadian Music Week, the North American Folk Alliance, and the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals to name a few. Countless radio and television interviews prove that Lindsay has what it takes, even so far as being critically acclaimed by the CBC. She was a waitress/bartender for many years, quitting in January 2008 to give this music career her full-hearted commitment (not to mention the great affair she is having with her Visa!) Lindsay is destined to become a star, and finds ways to incorporate her life experiences on the way up and down in songs for everyone to enjoy.

“Lindsay’s liquid voice, passionate song writing and dynamic stage presence create a powerful effect that is much much more than the sum of its parts. She’s got it all!”
- Chris White, Director Ottawa Folk Festival
