Biography Devastated at 5 by the sudden demise of my Mum, left with one mournfully ravaged often times furious Father began the quest of this wounded youth. Being of Northern Eurpean lineage, Irish/Germanic from Dad and English/Germanic from Mum. That would make me an Anglo/Irish/German American....phew! I naturally gravitated toward British Pop. Born in the midwest to a middle class family I was fortunate to have a populous household. There was no shortage of vinyl records left behind as siblings one by one went off to university. Dont know exactly how I was turned on to The Beatles but ever since I heard this group of lads I was hooked. One neighbour relayed how when I practiced my John Lennon scream, it sounded as if I was being butchered. Nothing like an artfully placed squeal in a tune. There were other instances I would come home wearied from days work and I would crash to Who music at strident levels. I still lived at home and always closed the windows. To be honest I only played records at volumes just short of deafenig when it was but me. Started writing music when I sent away for a rhyming dictionary, this was in my late teens. I found bandmates with similar interests and enjoyed being on stage and performing live, hiding all the while the jitters by bobbing my head and body. I moved to California as I was fed up with the hot humid summers and seemingly endless bitterly cold winters. I was fortunate to be allowed to live with my Sis and her husband to be for a year. We formed a band but lacked management, potential was there but just was not to be. Other than writing and performing I found a new love in surfing...oh how I would invest copious amounts of time in the sea, sometimes wondering why I was out in storm waves, pondering how I would navigate my way toward shore. I am intentionally leaving out a portion of my life, it was discouraging and oppressive. I invested a great amount if not all of myself serving others and was rarely appreciated. I leave blame to myself and my lack of judgement. I chose my path, I also chose to move on. Will the artists is as almost as complex as counting sand by the sea. One has to intimately be with one to sincerely know one. All of us are this way, too often times we rush. I made this mistake once and intend not to repeat again. I am a Postman by trade, what I do is not who I am. When asked to elucidate who Will is, I candidly state I am a songwriter, poet, singer, musician. I celebrate you the listener. Without you, we the artist are but one that is unkown. Welcome to my home. Also you may read some of my poetry on my myspace blogs... Here are some quotables I hold as my own. Cheers! ;0) " Man often becomes what he believes himself to be. If I keep on saying to myself that I cannot do a certain thing, it is possible that I may end by really becoming incapable of doing it. On the contrary, if I have the belief that I can do it, I shall surely acquire the capacity to do it even if I may not have it at the beginning." ---Mahatma Gandhi So as Nike says "Do It" IT'S UP TO YOU...Believe in yourself...believe in others, share , grow, love , give, take chances, embrace all life has to offer...good and bad, face calamity and be strong for those that are weak, for when you are lacking others will strengthen you. One song can spark a moment, One flower can wake the dream One tree can start a forest One bird can herald spring One smile begins a friendship, One handclasp lifts a soul One star can guide a ship at sea One word can frame a goal One vote can change a nation, One sunbeam lights a room One candle wipes out darkness, One laugh will conquer gloom One step must start each journey, One word must start each praye, One HOPE will raise our spirits One touch can show you care One voice can speak with wisdom One heart can know what's true ONE LIFE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE YOU SEE..... IT'S UP TO... YOU ?!?!?!?" ---------- I am here on this Earth to serve...I am a musician, songwriter, I also write poetry. I also have the belief that I am not here selling my music to become a "rock star" , to some this is their motive, not mine. If I attain wealth it would be due to the fan,,,without this I am nothing,,,have said it many times yet, it is true. I dislike me being the focus and my work to be the true focus. My work is my music and poetry, it is here for you to enjoy and be touched, to be inspired and to be happy. My poetry are like abstracts at times and mirthful at others. The basis of my work comes from life as I portray it and have experienced it. Money is a means for me to live, so I can give back, possessions are or should say the excess, is something I dont strive for. My first cd was done with money I received from my divorce settlement in '05. I am here for my fans, touring if you did not know, if the artist is not with a major label, is the artist burden, it is not feasible for me , rather it would be foolish of me to waste my money on "glamour"...making myself out to be something that doesnt work presently, and is not what Will is about. Basically I can not support myself by touring on my own..ok..I would love to tour the world..I first need to have a fan base to do fund this, sell cds.... My second cd will be entitled " Bad Manners"...and I suggest if you like my first cd " Be Like You" this will be as good or better. You the fan are my record company of sorts or should , private investors, go to www.myspace.com/willweckel , listen to other tunes there and you can for free .....you dont have to listen to my music if you dont care to, but helping someone, however grand or minuscule is a noble thing. I as an artist celebrate you the listener, fan , without you, we the artists are nothing. My sincerity to you all, Cheers, Will Weckel P.S. if you would like to see acoustic live performances and some acoustic demos in my bedroom ...lol...seriously no please,...it is my bedroom....the music is tho serious...it is me...who I am...so....go to www.myspace.com/will4sale or youtube.com/willweckel www.ourstage.com/willweckel Instrumentation Will Weckel/ Electric and acoustic guitar.
