Biography
THE MOCKS are an electronic pop duet formed in the city of Monterrey, Mexico, since 2005.
THE MOCKS duet is composed of a married couple of quality musicians with a unique musical taste and a clear sense of what POP music should sound like, is formed by Mario “Blodo” del Angel, who first and foremost dubs himself as a Classical Music Score Composer and Ela Gonzalez who aside from being an Illustrator whiz, gives the band its luscious vocals and thoughtful lyrics.
After a couple of years of “experimenting” together musically, They started taking a serious approach to their musical craft back in early ’08 when they released their first EP through their own online website called “M is Correct”, which immediately, brought the attention of the music business and public alike, both nationally and Internationally, after being reviewed by Rolling Stone Mag and Phlow Mag from Germany, and getting such rave reviews by both Magazines. Following a year excitement and hard work supporting “M is Correct” throughout the nation, and performing a few international shows as well, they went back into the studio and re-recorded a few songs from their acclaimed EP, and added a few new other songs to their roster but, this time, with a new “weapon” in their hands, called Mr. Ricky Flores, a well known local Producer&Engineer, who took interest in the band since he got the tip from one of the top show-production executives in Mexico Mr. Rodolgo Ayala, and as soon as he heard them, and offered to help immediately.
The mixing of these new tracks was performed by a well known international engineer who has mixed tracks for Calle 13 and Locos por Juana, to name a few, called Frank “El Médico” Rodriguez who also jumped into the bandwagon immediately, after listening to the couple´s new hot tracks. Among these new-born tracks comes an OMD cover song which had a big influence in the 80´s POP culture/scene in Europe and US, called “Enola Gay” whom they masterfully brought to life in such a “Mocks” way that it was “hand-picked” by music connoisseurs and was included in a cover Compilation release called “Rewind II” from Buffet Libre, whom also included music from bands such as Au Revoir Simone, SohoDolls, Little Boots, FreezePOP, to name a few.
THE MOCKS are a band who’s classic POP musical structure mixed in with Ely’s silky vocal arrangements dressed up with some vintage analog Synths, and catchy melodies make this band one NOT to miss, in the near future.
Since their “M is correct” release, THE MOCKS have been collecting a select “cult” of followers around the country and abroad as well, who are eager and waiting impatiently for their new much anticipated studio release in the near future.
Their new Album will be released in mid ’09 and with a new member to their team to help them push for success, called Luis Caballero who was responsible for KINKY’s international success, and who is eager to now push THE MOCKS to even further heights.
