If the road wasn’t made for touring, then what was it made for?!
Being hailed as one of the hardest working musicians out there, Andrew Allen has undoubtedly earned the title. He was born entertaining.
With just over a year under his belt as a solo artist, he’s shown that he not only has the drive, he’s got the whole highway! Hitting the road with a full tank of finely tuned pop songs, an incredibly entertaining live show and what seems like limitless energy, Andrew has proved time and time again that his songwriting style – sandwiched uniquely between the styles of Jason Mraz, John Mayer and Maroon 5 – mixed with his quirky personality, are the right ingredients for success.
In a little over one year, Andrew has achieved what many spend years to accomplish. Since the release of his debut album ‘The Living Room Sessions’ in April of 2008, he’s toured and played live in more than 250 venues throughout Canada and the UK (booked solely by him), secured airtime on the UK’s BBC Radio 1 as well as on Canada’s own CBC radio and a handful of Hot AC stations across the country. Andrew has performed live on multiple radio and television shows including GLOBAL and CITY TV’s ‘Big Breakfast’. He’s developed an incredible internet presence and following – leveraging the power of Facebook, Myspace, YouTube, Virb, Twitter, InDiscover, Reverbnation and his own personal website - was voted the 'Best New Artist of 2008' from the BCIMA’s, and received the ‘Best of the Best’ title from Okanagan Life Magazine.
In January of 2009, Andrew set off to record his latest ‘self titled’ EP at Mushroom Studios in Vancouver with producer Jeff Dawson (Daniel Powter, Kelly Rowland, State of Shock) which was released in March of 2009. This new EP earned him the invite to perform at JUNOFest 2009 in Vancouver, gained him adds on numerous Hot AC stations, and most recently allowed him to be featured as one of Virgin Radio’s ‘Best of BC’ artists. With the EP’s first single ‘Not Loving You’ Andrew Allen was named the 2009 winner of the "We are Listening" international singer/songwriter competition and a finalist in the John Lennon Songwriting competition under the ‘pop’ category.
Lastly, his story of the touring life recently earned him free coffee for a year from Tim Horton’s!
Just back from his second UK tour with venues ranging from Living Rooms to Arenas, over 300,000 km on the tour van and a drive with the same mileage, this is one artist that you’ll want to say ‘I saw him when…”
