The Jilted Brides are a psychedelic folk/electronic duo originally from Melbourne, Australia, but now living in Pittsburgh. Psychedelic in the original Greek means 'clarifying the soul'.

Tanya sings and creates video projections for our performances, Nicole sings, plays keys and writes the songs.

We formed in December 2007, and have produced a debut album, 'Larceny of Love'. The album features two 'sides' - psychedelic, atmospheric ballads (some with guest guitarists and pedal steel), and electronic hymns (featuring analogue synthesisers and choir).

Tanya is a vocalist, and independent video artist and photographer. Nicole is a song writer and producer, with a long background in electronica (B(if)tek, Artificial) and also more recently, folk rock (Dust).

The Jilted Brides sing about heartache, the dark night of the soul, spiritual yearnings and desire. Our music is both sacred and profane, just like love.

We sound a little like a cross between Leonard Cohen, Air and The Carpenters, Boards of Canada and Bobbie Gentry, Brigid Bardot leaning against the easy snap and click of drum machines, old organs and '70s synthesizers. Our 808 has been drinking:-)

We arrived in North America in May 2008. After playing at the New Music West in Vancouver, we traveled around the country doing a number of artist residencies and playing some shows. We've been writing a book and making a DIY documentary as we go. We arrived in Pittsburgh in October 2008 and are now based here.
