Biography
Oneway-Up--The genesis of this band took place in 2005 when a diverse group of veteran musicians from Northwest Indiana and Chicago were brought together by a common bond, under unusual circumstances. Its evolution continued with addition of several members in late 2005 and 2007, and with the addition of its newest/oldest member in early 2009. They are currently based right over the Chicago line in Hobart, Indiana and have appeared at clubs and festivals throughout the mid-west.

The Oxford™ dictionary defines originality as: “1 the power of creating or thinking creatively. 2 newness or freshness”. Begin with the soul of R&B and rock; add some spices from the blues; blend with some funk, some jazz, & southern rock; mix in a little Middle-Eastern & Celtic flavoring; stir with bold, animated percussive beats; then combine all of this with the song-writing lyrics of their composers. This synthesis of originality is a brief description of the unique diversity and artistic values found in the music of ONEWAY-UP and the spirit that they bring to bear on their musical interpretation of the works of other composers. They have been artistically inspired, at times, by the renderings of the likes of Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Carlos Santana, the Allman Brothers, Loreena McKennitt, Wes Montgomery, The Doors, Pearl Jam, Rush, Mozart, and the Beatles to name a few. Their music and lyrics are expressions, personally & collectively, of their experiences, observations & hopes. Listen to any of the songs from their CD (On Our Way—2007), or their performances, and you’re likely to hear a story or an experience that you can relate to—real life, real experiences, real music.

ONEWAY-UP’s music has been aired on MS-Blues internet radio (three #1 songs & two in the top 20); OurStage.com (two songs in the top 10); and on indie radio stations in the L.A., Georgia, Atlanta, Portland, and Texas markets. They are also being aired on HOOAH Radio (a military radio station) as well as radio stations in France, Germany and Australia. During the baseball season they can be found, from time to time, at the U.S. Steel Yard (Gary, IN) performing as the official band of the Gary SouthShore RailCats  minor league team. Their music can also be heard at Myspace.com/onewayupnwi; reverbnation.com/onewayup; as well as cdbaby.com/cd/onewayup.
