Artist Information Biography Quest Theory is a four piece Rock, Reggae, Bluegrass and Beyond group based out of Maine, New Jersey, California and the US Virgin Islands. The sound that is produced when all of Quest Theory meet up to play in one location is an explosive unleashing of of funky rock reggae rhythms applied with urban bluegrass and hip hop stylings which are a tribute to the great songwriters of the last century. Their melodic and rhythm flavored songs have attracted an exuberant and dedicated audience to date with positive responses to the music from all of the places they have toured. A listener from Ben Lomond, California feels: "They don't play your standard goofy frat boy reggae rock. There are intelligent and emotionally uplifting lyrics over grooving tunes. Just like doing good yoga, it moves the body as well as the mind." With roots going back almost a decade, Quest Theory have just released the debut album from their current lineup and are currently completing work on a second live record featuring some songs that have not appeared on any of their previous releases for The Abajo Studios and VibeSetters Records. The upcoming CD release, a live documentary record of their recent 2 week US Virgin Islands tour, will be available to radio and the press on May 20th, 2008. The album will also be available for download through internet sites iTunes, CDBaby.com, Soundclick.com and Garageband.com. The first single off the CD will be the lead track "Baja", with lyrics that explore a harrowing adventure with waves pounding and sand burning south of the border in Baja, Mexico. Living in the four different areas separated by thousands of miles has shaped the sound of the band to reflect the sometimes isolating human condition and seeking alternative ways to bridge a path of musical collaboration and communication. Using modern file-sharing techniques over the Internet, the band has exchanged ideas and practiced virtually to create a unified artistic vision of inspired music with the freedom to be nomadic. Music must be brought to the people and Quest Theory have positioned themselves strategically across the United States to make it possible for reaching the greatest number of folks with their sentiments and sounds. While playing clubs, theaters and festivals in the mainland United States from coast to coast and south to the US Virgin Islands, members of Quest Theory have shared the stage with the following talented musicians: Robert Randolph, Ani Difranco, Blues Traveler, John Brown's Body, Warren Haynes, Dark Star Orchestra, Steve Kimock, Railroad Earth, Tea Leaf Green, Rusted Root, and The Derek Trucks Band. The music of Quest Theory has been described by one person close to the band as 'The Beatles meeting Bob Marley and Del McCoury to write a retro-rock reggae bluegrass song cycle.' They spice up their original songwriting and composition during live performances with improvisational passages since spontaneity and structure give rise to a positive creative tension which reveals new musical depth. Quest Theory are an intelligent and harmonically focused band with a strong emphasis on continuing the tradition of great american music. When folks hear the music, they feel the vibration of the legacy that Quest Theory is bringing into the future of music. A destination is without meaning if you do not take time to enjoy the ride so, please support music that makes the sights better with sound. Sing, smile and be safe.
