Biography Steve Kristoff is a singer/songwriter inspired by contemporary folksingers such as Steve Earle and Fred Eaglesmith. Recalling the words of wisdom "write about what you know", many of Steve's original songs deal with middle-age angst and watching his teenage son grow up. Most of these originals are performed with Steve on vocal and ukulele or mandolin and Renana on ukulele or banjo. Besides Steve's original songs, Steve and Renana play old-time Appalachian music. This is Renana's specialty and Steve sings while providing back-up on mandolin, or banjo-ukulele. Steve and Renana also like to mix in the occasional novelty pop tune from the 20's and 30's, making use of their talents on ukulele and banjo-uke. Their shared taste in music (blues and old-time) brought Renana and Steve together, and in recent years they have, literally, been making beautiful (at least to them) music together as they have pursued their musical adventures playing at open mic venues in Batesville and Metamora and at the Metamora Old-Time Music Festival. They often perform as the Harvey Branch String Band, taking the name of a creek that runs through their home town of Oldenburg, Indiana.
