Biography
Marc Berger is a published songwriter and recording artist who has performed at Austin’s South by Southwest music festival and been named an Emerging Artist at the Kerrville Folk Festival.  He has opened shows for Bob Dylan and other national acts.  His anti-nuclear anthem “The Last One” has been quoted in the NY Times, featured on the CBS Evening News and performed by Richie Havens at rallies throughout Europe, Great Britain and the United States.

Marc’s latest project is the concept album "Ride", inspired by his longstanding obsession with the American West – its landscape and mythology. John Ford did it in film, Frederick Remington in painting and sculpture, A.B. Guthrie in fiction. Now "Ride" presents ten cinematic recordings aimed at capturing the vastness and romance of the West, while exploring its deep roots in the American psyche and relevance to the modern world.

After hearing guitar/vocal demos of the songs, producer /guitarist Eric “Roscoe” Ambel, (formerly of Joan Jett’s and Steve Earle’s bands) who shared his interest in the subject, signed on and urged Marc, along with band mates Mike Ricciardi, Walter Strauss and Jack O’Hara to take the project in an “acoustic” direction to create the Western sound they were after. After a summer spent rehearsing in a garage in upstate New York, they went into the studio with Eric producing. These tracks showcase  a muscular acoustic band traversing a a vast, unsettled western landscape – from the haunting message and beat of “The Twister” to the soul shaking experience of taming a wild stallion in “Take it on the Chin,” from the pulsating train-rhythm of “Nobody’s Gonna’ Ride on the Railroad” (2009 Billboard World Songwriting Contest Honorable Mention) to the plaintive, hobo philosophy of “A Bottle of Wine, A Suitcase, An Umbrella”.

"Ride", due for winter '09-'10 release, will contain 10 original songs, all written and performed by Marc and his band.
