Artist Information Biography The Elementalists are 5 highly skilled musicians playing their own style of live hip-hop; what they affectionately refer to as Prog Hop. They appeal to an audience of genuine music lovers who appreciate an eclectic mix of styles. Not wishing to be pigeon holed as purely hip hop, their tunes contain a mixture of funk, electronica, soul, dub, break-beat and drum and bass, all unashamedly coming from an angle that reflects their personal backgrounds and beliefs. Lyrically unconventional, they shun the current hip-hop trend to embrace materialism but rather opt for light-hearted attacks on modern consumer and celebrity culture. The bands appeal comes from their honesty, humour and pleasure of performing live. They have a professional but relaxed repartee with the audience and are attracting word of mouth interest from an ever-increasing fan base (Larmer Tree Festival, Firegathering Festival, Access Festival, Bug Bar - Brixton, Jamm - Brixton, 333 Club - Shoreditch, Bush Hall - Shepherds Bush, The Orange Rooms - Southampton, The Talking Heads – Southampton, The Soul Cellar). They have recently completed their debut recording, Crazed Maniac, and early signs show the media to be embracing their ‘Prog-Hop’ sound with many suggesting The Elementalists could be the band to look out for in 2009! “sparks off imagery of artists such as Rage Against The Machine and early Incubus’ styles as swagger and musical meltdowns tumble around the listener.” Rob Stares - Bandidge – April ‘08 “Fans of fine instrumentation and radical rhyming amidst dynamic funk driven mayhem (you know who you are) should at least check out this blistering EP.” Ant Standring – Glasswerk – April ‘08 Instrumentation Elmo - Vocals, Keys UBQ - Bass synth, samples Carl - Decks Stu - guitar, bass, elec. sitar metro - drums Discography Crazed Maniac EP (2008) |
