Biography
Flounder is a music band founded in the autumn of 2008 in Pittsburgh, PA. that touches on rock, funk, progressive, blues, experimental, jazz, and metal. Flounder the band comprised of four artists: Brian Genovesi, Steve Ivol, Mike Lannon, and Chuck Simpson. All members have years of playing experience behind them, and they always bring a very professional sound and attitude at all their shows.

Flounder's band members have years of experience playing bars, clubs, and other venues dating back from the early 90’s to present. They have played in such bands as the One Eye Daddy’s, and The Moving Company, just to name a few. The members are fluent in many genres of music and have been professionally trained from instructors like the Duquesne University Faculty Guitar Ensemble, Rick Malls from Waynesburg University (Guitar Gallery), and many others.

Individual Bio’s:
Brian Genovesi: vocals and rhythm/lead guitarist - played for the One Eye Daddy’s before Flounder. Brian has been playing guitar and singing for many years, honing his funky, but, heavy style. Brian took up the lead singer position while playing in the One Eye Daddy’s; this helped him blossom into the exceptional vocalist he is today. Brian brings this key vocal element to Flounder as well as providing some hard guitar riffs, funky rhythms, and complex solo’s to the table.

Steve Ivol: bass guitarist - has also played for the One Eye Daddy’s and The Moving Company. Steve is a founding member of Flounder and also one of the main contributors to the song writing process. Steve is well versed in bass guitar, upright bass, guitar, and drums, and Steve has a passion for that funky slap bass guitar made popular by Bootsy Collins and Flea, as well, as smooth sounding finger picking styles. He also studied upright bass from the world renowned instructors at Duquesne University. Steve brings a style of playing that reflects many influences and years of study.

Mike Lannon: lead/rhythm guitarist - has been playing guitar for over 17 years. Mike adds a unique sound to the band with his heavy but funky licks. Fluent in many styles such as rock, funk, and metal; Mike also enjoys doing experimental music and playing with sounds. But, mostly recently he has been focusing on holding down that groove thing. He has a passion for recording and sound engineering which can be heard on the production of the Flounder CD. Mike has studied music theory and guitar from classical instructors, Rick Malls, instructor at Waynesburg University and (Guitar Gallery); and many others. 

Chuck Simpson: drummer - started playing drums at the age of six. Throughout Chuck’s middle school and high school years he began to earn the respect from music teachers and peers alike. Within these years he learned to read and write music while also learning different styles and techniques. He helped compose the schools new drum cadence in 1995 and toured with the band to countless jazz competitions helping the band win numerous awards along the way. In 1996 and 1997 he was nominated for the schools Top Section Leader of the year award. Chuck has played in such bands throughout the years including Hatchet Jack, The Moving Company, Devastation and most recently Flounder. Chuck currently provides drums lessons to those who share the same passion as he does and he also does studio work at local Studio 635 in Bridgeville PA.
